T360 Middle of the Night Shift Apres Ski….
More Winter… But at least it’s going to be Sunny!
Fabulous Skiing/Boarding with an Equally Fabulous Forecast!
------------------ 8:27 A.M. Orig. Post -------------------
89(*) Open Trails on the forecasted Snowy Accumulating Slopes of Tremblant.
The addition of any New, Fresh Snowfall has every potential of
bringing Tremblant’s already very fine surfaces up to Optimal
Early February, Prime, Pure Winter Type Conditions.
This is a Gift.
The range of projected Snow accumulation is between 4 and 10 Cm’s
within the next 18 hours or so, and with a moderate South, to Sou-East
Wind, so the potential for a Great Surface refresher is almost certain.
We really like the low velocity wind component as it allows
for a more even distribution as the New Snow is less likely to
be moved off the widths of Trail Surfaces.
There is a good possibility of “Lee Side Drifting” at greater depths
than the stat’s with these weather conditions too.
As you descend on the North, look for Drifting on the right hand side
of Trails, as you descend on the South, look for that on the left hand
side of Trails.
On some of the Narrower North Side Trails, the tall Trees often act like
“Scoops” that allow Snow to collect on the Trail surfaces below, so
exploration in these Sectors can turn up samples like this one below
from one of the most recent days like today, back on Valentine’s Day.
One-Pic Forecast Sample:
Marie-Claude Asselin, Versant Nord, The North Side @ Tremblant.
What we have now is an extension of Winter that would normally
be cycling towards Spring.
While Non-Skiers/Boarders are going to think back on this Winter as “Long”
with negative connotations, true Tremblant Alpine Snow Sport Fans are going
to think back on this Winter as having one of the longest “Sweet Spots” of
Fine Mid-Winter Conditions within the range of our seasonal memories.
The Grey of a Snowy Winter day is a beautiful thing to passionate
Winter Sports Participants.
----------- Conditions Caveats --------------
Falling, Drifting Blowing Snow can mean the possibilities of
reduced vision and uneven surfaces.
Allow additional room for manoeuvring, particularly around Trail
Intersections. Passing/Overtaking should be done only with wide
margins of clear space and at safe speeds appropriate for the
traffic flow you are in.
During the initial phases of Fresh Snowfall, pre-existing Natural
Hazards can be covered by a thin layer that may obscure obvious
visibility, so caution is recommended in all areas of first passage.
Previous Natural Weather Fluctuations mean that there can be
slick or icy bits that can/may be revealed during daily wear,
particularly on steeper pitches and/or areas of concentrated
high volume traffic, so please observe any occurrence of these
patterns and learn to anticipate them in other similar areas.
Choose Terrain that is realistically within your Skill Level and
Obey any Superseding Hand Posted Signage placed by the Ski Patrol.
-------------- End of Caveats ---------------
Weather Notes:
Very Winter -15 C to start with, but rising to somewhere around -6C
by mid-afternoon, so with the Moderate breezes, it should not be
difficult to handle at all.
The forecast for the upcoming week is very important to note for those
who have the discretionary ability to get days off mid-week as the Sun
and steadily rising daytime temps are going to make for almost ideal
Pure Winter Conditions throughout.
Conditions Notes:
Please Note: Review trail status icons/legend in graphic below
