3/11/14 #Tremblant Conditions

90(*) Open Trails on the currently, Snow Foggy, 4 Sides of Tremblant.

We’re delighted to have Snow Fog anytime the South Base Temp is at Zero C.

Solar Thermal Energy is not what the Trail Surfaces need, so as persons
interested in one Predominant Category…

“SNOW QUALITY”, any beneficial Weather factors at these tipping points
that helps retain that Snow Quality, are very welcome by us….

….besides which, there’s not a damn thing we can do about the Weather, so
why not look for the Positives in the situation.

On Top Of That(a)… The Skiing/Boarding are going to very much Spring Fun!

On Top Of That(b)… It’s Forecast to Be Sunny this afternoon anyway!

Until Then(a)…

Following the Softening Sweet Spots around the Mountain will provide
a whole days worth of fun exploration, and if you have bases done with
a suitable Temp Range Wax, Great Shredding and Speed can yield
Tremendous Carving with Super High Levels of Traction.

Until Then(b)...
Vision may be an issue depending on the presence of any airborne fine
Snow Fog Particles, so you may need to stop with some frequency to
keep goggles clear.

This morning may be an excellent candidate for the use of Yellow Lens/Safety
Glasses that enhance Contrast by filtering Blue light out and restoring as close
to natural depth and detail vision as is possible.

Below: We had to search the Archives for this one, but it illustrates the point
about the Fog Vision Factor for ANY day it happens at around the Freezing Mark.
REMEMBER: you’re not so much worried about cold if it’s at Zero C, so
having Goggles Sealed to your face is not essential, they may fog inside anyway.
What you really need is Contrast, Clear Sight and to keep Wind and/or fine
particles out of your eyes. For under $10.00 bucks at almost any Hardware Store…
... These things are Brilliant.

If the Weather turns out Sunny… Surfaces will soften at a quicker rate,
particularly on the South, so that will simply increase the value of
Base waxing for “Warm” temp. ranges to facilitate Moisture Shedding
from your bases as they try to glide over any elevated levels of
ambient dampness in the top layers.

We specifically say “Try to Glide” above, because the greater the presence
of “Moisture” to the point of being even minute amounts of “Water” can
create suction under your Skis/Board that acts as a brake when you really
want to Glide.

“Warm” range Base Wax inhibits that action by being “Hydrophobic”
or Water Repelling, and as such is very useful in maintaining Speed
if that happens in these types of Conditions.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
