So, we went with the above Pic.Forecast sample for 2 primary reasons.

The first is the Trusty Webcam Early-Bird View, the one we’re liking the best is
the Versant Nord, North Side Base. Taken this morning at 7:54 A.M., it shows
not only a very fine looking wide path of Grooming, but as well, it shows
one of our favourite signs of stable temps. and high surface quality...

The second is The Weather Network Forecast which called for very sunny sky’s
and a daytime high of -10C. At those steady cooler temps with no active weather
on the immediate horizon, the sun should endure all day.

The moderate Westerly breezes will be coming up the Taschereau side
of the Summit Grand Manitou Lodge, and moving across towards the
Lowell Thomas/North side. Considering the Cooler Summit Elevation Temps
at roughly 4C lower than base, the crispness of the newly fallen snow is
going to stay exactly the way it fell.

Merci/Thank You Tremblant Mountain Crews...

Merci/Thank You Mother Nature...

The bottom line, adding up all the factors for today, is that there is going to be
some very fine to excellent Skiing and Boarding from start to finish. Those
lucky enough to be here are in for a treat and there will be fairly light crowds
that mean the treat is somewhat exclusive.

Beginning today, but more seriously tomorrow, you’ll see dramatically
rising attendance as the Tremblant 24Hour Children’s Charity Participants,
Fans, Support people, Media, and Spectators all begin to show up for
the big Event.

Some New Open Terrain Possibilities(**):

(**)We are careful to say “Possibilities” because we are not privy to
any information that confirms Openings. Consequently, our opinions
are based on Observation and the experience that Mountain Crews
do not waste investing resources into Terrain development unless
they intend to utilize it in the near term. Additionally, we are not privy to
the Course(s) or Restricted Traffic Flows as may be required by the
24 Hr. Children’s Charity Fundraiser. We will report on things as they
become evident, but we recommend that if you have questions or concerns
in that regard, you should contact Tremblant.ca Customer Service.

Notwithstanding all the (**) stuff...

Tremblant has always been very sensitive to the folks who attend
on the 24 Hr Kid’s Charity weekend, but are not involved in the event
and are just out for a day of very fine, early season Skiing or Boarding.
Typically, they try to accelerate new terrain to not only compensate for the
square area used in the Event Course, but to alleviate traffic congestion too.

The latest significant entry on the Open List is McCulloch. They’ve been
working on McCulloch for a bit over a week and we know it will be in better
than average opening shape due to all the snow that fell last night.

The Blown Snow has been Light and Dry and where we’ve Skied through it
on other Open Trails, very smooth and low resistance. Both Speed and Control
on this snow are no problem.

The Above And Below Pictures are a matched pair of 180.deg., Opposite P.O.V.’s,
with each others point of Origin, i.e. Summit Grand Manitou Lodge, South Outside
Observation Deck, and Lac Tremblant, Government Dock/Marina, in the opposite
photograph.

Below:
This is a pic that’s only 48 Hr’s old, it’s the most recent detail we have on file,
but of course, with all the work done, PLUS the new snow and a couple of
over-night Grooming cycles, it will be even better now. What we like here
is the instant open “Wall to Wall” coverage.

Here’s a sample of that “Wall To Wall” in Lower Desserres, running parallel
to Lower Beauvallon. This run was opened about 5 days ago and when it
came on-line, it had the finished look of an Interstate Highway! Big, Wide,
Flat and Smooth. This continues to be the standard of quality that virtually
all the trails opened with Snowmaking support have. Mid-Winter Quality
on Day #1.

This is a file shot of Biere-En-Bas back on 11.26 as they were
laying the foundation for its development. It is now on
“Progressive Opening” status.

Snowmaking continues at the Top of the Expo Quad, in both directions,
both Gagnon/Upper Sissy Schuss and Vanier are getting a big blast of Snow,
so that means adjacent trails may not be too far off.

Duncan has had vigorous Snowmaking right from the Summit earlier this
week, so it might be a prime candidate for the weekend.

Flying Mile(South) and Devils River(North) are 2 more examples of listed
Snowmaking Icons, indicating potential near term additions

ADDITIONAL Weather Note:
The temps are going back down tonight to -17C, so it should be an excellent
night for High Volume Snowmaking Production.

Evidently, there’s a lot going on, so we think the next
couple/few days may show some advance in the Open Trail Count.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
