25(*) Open Trails on Summit to Base South and North Sides of #Tremblant.
This is what you can do all day at Tremblant,
if you have the Skills, Tools and Muscle.
12.8.14.Lowell Thomas, Versant Nord, North Side, Summit Sector.
Experienced Skiers and Boarders will look at the pic above and instantly recognize
the desirable characteristics of these Snow Surfaces. Steady Sub-Zero temps
and repeated Grooming Cycles, PLUS Mountain User Traffic are all combining to
render out finer and finer particle sizes on the previously Open Terrain.
The net result is that while there are still some very normal early season
challenges with the very firm base that does have some Icy zones(particularly
around the “Expert” Rated, most difficult steep pitches/contour crests), if you
prudently explore to appropriately select Terrain for your Skills, the vast majority
of Tremblant is in fabulous shape for this date in December.
The Beginner/Intermediate Terrain is of particular interest, and in our travels
yesterday, we found it to be uniformly consistent with reliable Grip, low resistance
and easy to perform basic manoeuvres on.
The View From The Top...
is going to start out with much the same appearance as
this yesterday sample below:
The Big Difference today is going to be 8 Degrees C Warmer...
..and as a matter of fact, it looks like the next few days, dare-say
a week, are going to be equally User Friendly for Tremblant Ski/Board Fans.
Below:
As an indicator of the general level of improvement, McCulloch was definitely
more user friendly yesterday, a far less Icy feel underfoot, and to maybe even
a similar degree, it may see that much more improvement today.
It was actually capable of sufficient grip for short radius linked Parallel Turns
with the odd carve thrown in when there was a reliable distance of top layer
depth.
Reminder: Forget The Gym...
Light Weekday Traffic is the perfect opportunity for a good workout
at Tremblant. It is possible to safely do about 9,000 Vertical Feet Per Hour
in a relaxed training mode off the Duncan Quad due to it’s Ski-on, Ski-off
time efficiencies.
North Side Terrain Park Review:
(We had a request on another category of these forums for
descriptive information on current Tremblant Parks to which we
replied with the following. We are adding it here as a component
of todays conditions. Pic’s taken 12.8.14)
The North Side Park has been permanently installed in the space
on Rope Tow where Park People have been accustomed to it for the
past several seasons.
Here is an Individual Module Pic. Review, from the top.

12.8.14.Rope.Tow.Park.Second.Module.f.jpg 12.8.14.Rope.Tow.Park.Third.Module.b.jpg 12.8.14.Rope.Tow.Park.Forth.Feature.L.Module.b.jpg Based on nothing other than the amount of Snowmaking and the general state
of coverage, we might speculate that the South Park on Alpine might, maybe,
could be coming on-line as early as this weekend, but we could be wrong.
Weather Notes: Overcast, with temps up to -1C at South Resort Base Level,
so a Super-Easy day with the promise of Incrementally Grooming Improved
Surfaces and maybe even some Sun in the Afternoon Forecast???

Page/Topic under progressive construct. Warming temps, Increasing Surface Utility,
Expanding Early Season Terrain, Excellent Pre-Christmas Fitness Training...
It all adds up to very good reasons to get to Tremblant any time you can.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
(

First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
