It was a good day with a lot of fresh snow around, some breezes and a lot
of Weekender Traffic. The combination of those three things did create some
zones of slickness and even some Icy bits.
Easy for Experts, a bit more challenging for Beginners and Intermediates.
Snowfall made Automatic Camera Settings difficult, particularly in the
focus utilities. Sorry for the soft focus on this one below, but it still shows
the very healthy nature of the current Tremblant Shred Depth average.
The tricky part, if you could call it that, was identifying the few Slick/Icy bits
along the route.
The optimization of Surface quality will no doubt be the results of Grooming
this evening, because with all the new snow being the primary part of the top
layers, ideal compaction seems at least 1 or 2 Night-shifts away, so every
Overnight Cycle is going to help settle the new snow into place. One way to
summarize might be to say it’s a situation of integration between Old Base
and New Snow, or something like that.
The interesting thing for tomorrow then, will be how much Grooming Mountain
Crews can get done with packing and levelling out the thicker bits.

Summit Snow, Colours of Fun...
Duncan Quad Views At Mid-Point, just below Vanier.
Tomorrow’s Weather Brief:
Overcast, Snowfall, Daytime High at -6C. Should be a Light Traffic, Super Smooth
Snow White, Easy Winter Day!
Still Very Fine Conditions that should respond very favourably to typical
Post Snowfall Grooming Schedules.

If You Don’t Want To Ski Tremblant, Then Go Fly A Kite.
Basically, you can do anything you want at Tremblant right now, anything
that you can attach “Winter” to, in terms of Outdoor Sporting Activity.
Of course we have every intention of remaining firmly fixed on Skiing/Boarding
Alpine Snow Sports, but we realize that in the Big Picture, there are others who
Love Winter as much as we do but somehow find other Sporting pursuits they
prefer, and it is therefore entirely appropriate to acknowledge that things like
Frozen Lake Kite Flying, or Nordic Ski Touring, Snowshoeing, Ski-Doo Safari’s,
Winter Trail Hiking, Skating, Hockey, or even Knitting a Sweater beside a cozy
warm fireplace, might be your Winter passion.
The point is... You’ll find pretty much what-ever Winter Things You want to do,
right here at Tremblant.
Signs of Group Activity...
This is a Super Popular time for Groups to congregate at Tremblant Too.
We see all kinds of Clubs, Groups and Organizations Racing all over Tremblant’s
Very Fine Slopes, so it’s also fair to point out that if you belong to an organization
that travels to participate in Outdoor Winter Activities, Skiing/Boarding in particular,
Tremblant offers arguably the finest Venue for Hosting such Affairs as can be found
just about anywhere.
Weather Notes:
It Is Snowing Steadily Right Now. Sometimes, Quite Heavily.
Big, Phat, Phluffy, Phlakes are gently tumbling down covering everything
in sight with a beautiful soft coat of Dry, Cold-Formed Snow.
The Weather Network Tremblant Local Forecast Says It’s Supposed
To Snow Like This For The Next 30 Hours.
Below: Summit Views over the past few days have had many of these similar
Snow Squall Views.
It’s been fascinating to see these bands of very active Snowfall approaching,
and then passing over, each one leaving more, and more Snow on Tremblant’s
Trail Network.
What some would consider even more fascinating, is Skiing or Boarding
throughout this Snowfall as it’s happening!
Ski/Board Conditions Today:
Very Fine Natural Snow over a well established Base.
Groomed: All Skill Levels...
Above: This shot of P’tit Bonheur is quite typical of the Groomed Surfaces.
There’s lots of Fresh Snow and the top layers are soft with very good Shred
Depth. The abundance of recent snow means the density of groomed surfaces
are not yet at levels that multiple packing cycles will render, but it is all still easy
and very forgiving.
Expert Un-Groomed:
Loose, Fresh Powder Snow of Variable Depths and Density.
(Intense Snowfall is Excellent for Ski/Board Conditions,
not so great for photography... we’ll take that challenge smiling any day.)
Above: This scene is actually from the day before yesterday, but the date is
irrelevant when it’s looked like this for about the last 5 days and it’s still going on!
