T360 Middle of the Night Shift Apres Ski @ 3:45 A.M.
The wind was a very powerful force at the Summit today. So much that
on P’tit Bonheur, skating action was needed mid-run to keep forward
motion going at a reasonable pace. So much that we wondered about
Lift Op’s being affected, but they never were. Generally, trails are quite
snowy with variable degrees of accumulated thickness. It snowed and
drifted quite a bit.
2.8.15.Sissy.Schuss.Haut.Upper.Snow.Accumulations.d.jpg
On examples like Soleil Sectors Toboggan, it was “Power Assist” pushing
you down over remarkably fine surfaces with wind generated “Sand Wave”
desert-like shapes of light, dry, cold formed snow. The trail itself is superb,
but ride back up on the Soleil Quad was “Refreshing” and not something
that you wanted to repeat too many times.
The experience was similar on TGV Quad and it’s serviced Terrain. Oddly
enough, while you felt like you were in a wind tunnel one moment, there
were also many Lee-Side Sheltered spots where in the next moment it
was almost surreally calm.

There’s no doubt that the rapid accumulation is most suitable for Expert Skill Sets,
so Grooming efforts will be critical for Beginners and Intermediates. Crews will
have lots of super smooth corduroy tomorrow, but careful attention to matching
Actual Skills to Posted Difficulty Skill Levels will be necessary for safe passage in
zones that may have irregular or tracked up depths of New Snow.

Personal comfort was not an issue while moving on Trail surfaces, riding
on some lifts was breezy though, so the best way to deal with that is to
ensure that Gaps are eliminated where ever possible in your exterior layer(s).
Riding the Gondola of course provides complete shelter and a unique
observation platform from which Mother Natures Awesome Power can
be safely seen.
Forecast: After tonight’s -20C, the Sun Should be out with cloudy periods
and First Tracks Temp’s holding until about 9:30 -- 10:00, rising to -15C,
then getting up to -12C or so after lunch. Winds from the East at moderate
to strong, so another “Bundle Up” advisory in effect.
The Skiing and Boarding will continue to be “Fresh Powder Snow Excellent”!

96(*) Open Trails on the 100%, Fully Opened, Fully Wonderful 4 sides of #Tremblant.
What can you say when day after day, the Excellence Continues!
Choose Trail Terrain Within your actual Skill Level(**) and we don’t think
you can make a mistake at Tremblant at all.
Carve This...
2.7.15.Nord.North.Devils.River.Carving.Shred.Quality.c.jpg
Experienced Skiers and Boarders alike will instantly recognize the Control, Traction
and Speed Qualities of the Superb Snow Surfaces in the pic. above. All you need
to do is imagine this quality on almost every square inch of the vast array of
Groomed Terrain, somewhere over 60 Kilometres of Ultra-Fine High Performance Carving!
More Snow falling too!
This mornings Snowfall is occurring at an ambient temp of -18C. Even though
the winds are supposed to be at moderate to strong Nor-West, right at this moment,
adjacent to the South Resort Base, these big, fat, fluffy Snowflakes are drifting down
in a very lazy, relaxed way, without it seems, even a breath of breeze to move them
at all. It’s probably a different scenario at the Summit, but we’ll let you know on
that later on. The daytime high is forecasted to be -13C.
In any event, the continuing run of very stable winter weather without thaw
factors of any sort for over 40 consecutive days is one of the major reasons
Mountain Crews here at Tremblant have been able to focus almost completely
on refinement of existing surfaces, and when it snows, quick integration into
the base. The results are the incremental betterment that lead from
one “Best Day” to the escalated level of tomorrow’s Best Day.
It’s like we’re in a Skiers Dream Equivalent of the Classic Bill Murray Movie
“Groundhog Day” where he gets stuck in a Time loop and every repeat he
refines and improves the previous days efforts.
Tremblant Regulars currently have the unique privilege of finding themselves
in a repetitive loop of ever increasing daily Trail Quality that shows no signs of
stopping for the foreseeable future. Tremblant Ski Holiday Guests are finding
themselves plunked right into the middle of all this beauty too, so all the way
around, that’s got to be a pretty good situation for a Ski Resort.
It’s also a huge reason why anyone with the discretionally planning ability
to get to Tremblant over the near-term future should make every possible
effort. From Near or Far, if you can be here soon, do it.
Above: Grainy Picture, Great Skiing.
Unfortunately, Grey Snowy conditions that are Great for Skiing, are lousy for
photography, so as much as we’d like to have put up a pic a wee bit sharper,
with better resolution, what’s important and instantly visible, is the grip and
shred depth of the snow on Expo in this example.
Weather Notes:
Besides the daily weather stat’s... The Weather has hit the mainstream News Media
because forecasters came out with a report yesterday that says basically...
If you Thought it was cold before, then think again because colder, the coldest
yet this season, is on the way for next week.
It’s not just around here either, the “cold” projections for the week upcoming
are apparently going to affect the Eastern half of North America all the way
down to Jacksonville Florida.
While it may be colder than it’s been so far this winter to the North, East, South
and West of us, we do not think it will be colder with specific reference to Tremblant
now due to the following graphic presentation:
As noted, there is nothing in this chart that’s colder than what we’ve already
been through, indeed, to those of us who have been here for the season, it
is going to be warmer than what we’ve been used to.
Time will tell on the detail, but as Skiers, we’re happy to see “Cool” in any
form and we’ll never turn down “More Winter”!
Conditions Notes:

(**)We had a report of Icy bits on La Griffe, but what we suspected was that
it was actually the frustrations of an Intermediate Skier on an Expert Black
Diamond Rated trail, and that was exactly the case we found. “Lift Line
Feedback” is unfortunately not necessarily a meaningful reflection of
actual conditions.
La Griffe does have some very small wear spots of hardened surfaces, but
a review undertaken by one of our regular fans who Skis at a legitimate
Expert Skill Level shows that they are almost inconsequential to the overall
quality of the run which is very very fine.
Loud Lift Line criticisms by people who would blame the hill instead of their
own lack of skills, skew the perceptions of those within earshot unfairly.
Our advice is... the louder the complaining, the more reason to ignore it,
generally speaking.
Page under construct. Sorry for late start here this A.M. Chores and Logistics.
