T360 Prime Time Evening Apres Ski @ 9:15 P.M.
Too Cool...
The combination of Temperature and Wind made it impractical to
deploy camera with the necessary opening of jacket and bare fingers
to operate switches and settings, so we’ll have to make do with this
Old Tremblant Village Sunset Panoramic.
2.23.15.Define.Cool.Tremblant.Sunset.At.Minus.24.C.d.jpg
You can just about see the “cold” in the air too...
Of course... the Skiing by any measurement standards you want to apply,
is still some of the very best that even long time Tremblant regulars can remember.
Weather Notes:
In case you’re wondering about the future...
Please Keep In Mind... the above is a forecast and Mother Nature has had a
recent habit of ignoring the efforts of Humans to predict her whims...
The Most Important Thing About Any Tremblant Plans For The Next Month
and without too much forecasting risk.... for the rest of the season...
The Conditions have a Very High Probability of being Excellent due to the
Record Setting Cold that the mass of the Mountain will retain. This ambient
Cold Storage might keep Great Ski Conditions ’til who knows when... June?

More Fresh, Super Cool Snow.
2.22.15.Lowell.Thomas.Trail.Side.Cold.Formed.Dry.Crystaline.Snow.e.jpg
We can not overstate the significance of the Snow Quality and the relationship
to Tremblant Winter Alpine Snow Sport Performance... AT ANY SKILL LEVEL.
Expanding this view beyond the Coniferous Tree Boughs to the adjacent
“Big Picture”...
2.22.15.Lowell.Thomas.Trail.Side.Proof.Of.Snow.c.jpg
This is just about the worst “Snowball Snow” because it’s so dry it does not
stick together well enough with just hand pressure, BUT... when it’s Packed
and compressed with a 12,000 Lbs. Grooming Machine...
The Best way to illustrate that in our opinion is with this 36 hour old pic.
shot on Nansen Bas, Lower.
2.20.15.Nansen.Bas.Lower.Corduroy.Carve.Shred.Quality.c.jpg
There are a few amazing things about this pic. above...
First off... Corduroy Shots on Nansen at 4:10 P.M. @ “Last Run” ??? You Bet!
Secondly, When we saw this corduroy coming into view, there was not a
single soul in sight, up or down, so it’s a safe opportunity for a Speed Induced
Super-Shred, Knife-Edge, Mega-Carve!
Thirdly, These surface Qualities are evident in 95% of all Tremblant’s array of
Groomed Terrain.
Fourthly, The Personal Energy Level required to Ski at this level for any
sustained period of time is a Workout Challenge that eclipses ANY GYM
ON THE PLANET! ...in both calorie burning aerobic exercise value as well
as all the beneficial psychological effects of Well-being that come from daily
vigorous outdoor activity.
Fifthly, These Conditions have been available and stable for almost 60 days!
This stretch of “Pure Winter” with no above zero temps on the Mountain for
almost 2 Months is already a record in the current History of Recorded
Weather Stats, and it could stand as such for Years, Decades or even Centuries!
Sixthly, Whatever else in the way of Positive Things Skiers and Boarders who
Live For Winter can think of...
Speaking of "Positive Things Skiers and Boarders who Live For Winter can think of...”
we would like to re-emphasize and expand on the value of Fitness Training at
Tremblant...

“Share" This With All Your Friends!
You do not have to be an Expert Racer to get exactly the same Skill Improvement
and Fitness Level benefits of Training at Tremblant. These very positive benefits
are available in relative proportion To All Skill Levels.
The important part is to get out as often as you can to Practice!
--------------- Conditions Caveat ---------------
Bitter Cold Arctic Air Over Continental North-Eastern Region Till Tuesday Morning.
It is Not Forecast to go above -21C at South Base Level, so with the Elevation
Differential at approx. 4 C Cooler at the Summit, together with a somewhat Gusty
West-Nor-West Wind, the Wind chill values could approach -40C.
Bundle Up Advisory with No Exposed Skin... What-so-ever... With Descent Speed
you could have frostbite within SECONDS, if you are facing into the wind.
------------------- End Of Caveat -----------------
Performance Notes:
The performance on todays surfaces... if you can cope with the cold, will be
almost beyond comparison for outright, pure carving traction.
We were going to throw this fuzzy Expo pic into the digital trash, but... after review
we decided to include it because there are very few days when you can see people
reliably carving the entire Pitch on Expo, but this person and a select group of other
very fit individuals were doing this all the way down Expo From the Top!
2.22.15.Expo.Quad.Views.Pitch.Shred.Quality.a.jpg
Fuzzy or not...
The thing to note here is the depth that both Skis are into the surface. It is the
“Platform” created along the inclined running length of the Skis that is capable
of holding all the turning forces against the steepness of Expo, and there
are not many days in a season where you can observe or perform this technique
right down the centre of Expo.
As we said above though, there is equal performance
on a relative basis for all Skill Levels, from Beginners up.
This is ‘Too Easy” Snow!
