Get Ready For Great! A Whole Day Of Fun, And A Whole Day Of Sun!
Then, just for review...
At Last Run Yesterday, the Wind was moving several tons of Snow per hour
over the Summit to end up on the North.

There are some unusual aspects of this though, because the Base has so little ice
in it. In a typical season that’s had at least a couple of very normal January
or February Thaws, when the wind works over the surfaces like this, any of
those Thaw caused Icy layers become exposed. Not so to any significant degree
this season.
The Base you are looking at above, did not have one speck of ice in it anywhere.
It is all pure, packed, very dense Snow. This generates some of the best performing
and most forgiving overall base conditions we’ve ever seen. There may or probably
are some Icy Bits out there somewhere... but if so... they are few... and far between.

Weather Notes:
As of Today, according to our very rough, unscientific, and amateur Weather
Statistics Observations, we have hit 60 Days of Continuous 24/7, Sub-Zero
Temperatures on the Mountain which eclipses our previous observed stretch
of 49 consecutive days.
This one fact alone represents the single largest contribution to the stability of the
Base, because not only does “Cold” Trump all other “Winter” factors, but more
importantly, for the excellence of Todays Skiing and Boarding, it is the primary
reason that virtually every Overnight Grooming Cycle for the past Two Months,
has been one of Refinement.
When it comes to Surface Quality at a Ski Resort... 60 Days of Refinement takes
the Surface Quality to a New Level of Universal Uniformity over the vast, extensive,
and truly impressive array of Trail Inventory on the Official Groomed Icon List that
covers All Skill Levels(**).
With no thaw from any source, the Snow in the base over the last 60 days
has become a new standard of what can be achieved on the surface with
a foundation of such remarkably purity to support it from below.
Is it Perfect? No, we all know that Humans working with Mother Nature can
never get to perfect, but we think this season will stand out as one that comes
quite close to ideal for sustained Conditions Quality, so as far as that goes, it’s
been all that we can hope for, and more.
There’s no doubt that the very thing that’s brought us the Magnificent Ski/Board
Conditions we have today, i.e. the “Cold”, has been a challenge to dress for some
mornings. Extra time to put on extra layers and pay extra attention to the detail
in making sure all the little gaps and bare spots are covered has become normal.
Getting “Climatized” to the cold has definitely happened for those who spend the
Season here like Ski/Board Instructors, Mountain Operations Crews and any that
are lucky enough to be able to call Tremblant “Home” for the winter. You know you’re
used to the cold when -10 seems “Hot” and you open your Jacket Vents...
Anyway, the Benefit to all that “Cool”, has not only been the exceptional Skiing/Boarding
up ’til now, but it’s also the prospect of the fabulous Spring Skiing/Boarding that’s
just around the corner, weather wise. Sooner or Later, as the Earth tilt’s on it’s Axis,
the longer days and exposure to more direct and intense Solar Energy will bring Spring!
When that finally happens, the deep Frost into the Mountain will act to keep
the coverage for weeks and weeks at levels of completeness we may not
have seen before.
For that reason we think anyone considering a Last Minute Spring Ski Holiday
will be rewarded with some outstanding Conditions that will be among the
Best Ever Experienced.
The Cool Temps have also brought us some Very Blue Sky! For some reason,
when it’s cold outside, the Sunny days seem to have the deepest Blue.

Of course... the Kidz In the Parks Will Always have Fun!

(**) We want to put a “Reality Clause” into the report though, because this is
not Revelstoke B.C. and we do not have 10 Metres of Base. The reality
is we’ve had seasons with more outright Snowfall, BUT... and it’s a HUGE “BUT”...
we’ve never had this long a time period with Zero “Plus”, above freezing temp’s
on the Mountain. Almost every precious Snow Flake thats fallen is still right where
it belongs... in the Groomed Base. The un-groomed Expert Only Zones do show
some natural hazards where traffic has revealed them, but Experts also possess the
Skills and Abilities to Navigate them. Even then, we see Experts get into trouble for
example, when they carry too much speed over a blind crest and do not have enough
time to correct before contact with Hazards can occur.

If you have near-term planing flexibility...
Now is the time to consider a Last Minute Spring Ski Holiday Booking.
The Extraordinary Deep Frost in the Mountain should hold Excellent
Conditions all the way through, and the Skiing/Boarding will
be uniquely fine because of it.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
