3/5/15 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Late Eve. Apres Ski Edit @ 10:30 P.M.

The long range forecast has been updated and there is a Warming Trend
being forecasted for Monday through Thursday of next week. The overnight
lows during that time will be well below Zero, so we can now begin to anticipate
the annual progression towards Spring Conditions.

The purpose of pointing this out is that with daytime thaw possible on surfaces,
the Sub-Zero overnights will potentially generate Icy bits and that will necessitate
Sharp Tuned Edges for maximum control and safety, so this is a reminder to
get your gear organized and tuned up now.

Ski/Board Spring Utility Notice:

If you’re driving in to Tremblant as a day-trip’r, then you will need to get your tuneup
done at your nearest local Ski Service Shop.

If you’re on your way to Tremblant for an overnight stay, then if you get here in the
afternoon, take your Skis or Board into Le Ski Shoppe at the foot of the Cabriolet,
adjacent to P1, Lower Resort Base Level for their discount “Overnight Rate”.
If you arrive in the morning, take them in to Le Ski Shoppe Apres Ski for the same
overnight deal.

Their prices are very inexpensive for the Expertise and Quality. The Automated
Ski Tuner they use is the only one of its kind in Canada, and is arguably the finest
Computer Controlled Automated Ski Tuner in existence.

If there’s any way you can get it done here... do it.

The precision of the Wintersteiger Discovery 2 is arguably the best available
on a Global Level. It’s improvements over the previous generation include
Edge Bevels to 1/10th of a degree and less pressure, but more evenly applied
along the length of the Ski being tuned for superior results in sharpness, with
less aggressive metal removal. From a technical standpoint, the process is
more like Honing rather than Grinding. This machine at Tremblant’s Le Ski Shop
is the only one in Canada at this time.

For the first time in almost a month and a half, it got above Zero at the South
Resort Base Yesterday, for just under 2 hours between 1:30 and 3:15 P.M.

Fortunately, it peaked at only +2C for maybe an hour, so there was not
much in the way of any softening at all on the Mountain due to the lower
temps at higher elevations. A good portion of the morning was overcast
and we’re thankful for that anytime we have these proximities to Zero to
avoid unnecessary Thermal exposure.

The saving grace for todays conditions was the almost immediate return to
a well chilled evening that got back down to -18C, which is where it still is at
this time.

Other than maybe the top crest of Johannsen, just above the Resort Base, we do
not forecast any change to the Alpine Snow Sports Trail Network because there
is way too much Frost into the Surface layers, let alone the Base and the Ground
below where it will take Months to radiate all the “Cool” out. All the cool will now
become a passive refrigeration element anytime we get “Plus”, above Zero Air
temps between now and the close of the season.

The Close of the Season... Good Grief Charlie Brown... how could you even think
about that now? The reality is... 5 Weeks ’till April 12th, the Officially Published
Seasons Closing at Tremblant. Wow.

How Is It Possible???
Only 5 weeks left to get out for these Historically Fine Conditions?

Mountain Utility Notice Re: Spring:

Based on the extraordinary deep and very hard frost into the Mountain created by
the most unusual and Record Breaking sustained number of days of below Zero,
plus the Long Range Weather Forecasts showing Below Normal Daytime Highs and
consistent Sub-Zero Overnights...

We are projecting Spring Skiing Qualities that will have far more Open Terrain,
and in Way Better Condition than average. Consequently we are advising all those
who are considering a Last Minute Spring Ski/Board Holiday to move quickly
to secure your dates, and all those regional Tremblant fans that can organize
days, weekends, whatever... to put those plans into effect immediately.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
