70(*) Open Trails on the Surprisingly Very Fine 4 Sides of #Tremblant!(**)

We say “Surprising” because going from +8 C to - 11C over the Night before last,
we expected to see a lot more “Icy” in the mix yesterday, but “Surprisingly”, that did
not happen and Thursday turned out to be Very Fine.

Below: This is a Hand-Held, approx.550mm Telephoto,
shot approx. 40 metres away, from the ascending
TGV.Quad Chairlift.

If we had spent 3 weeks arranging and staging this Photo it could
not be any finer than this spontaneous look of joy on the face of
our TGV.Quad Action Shot Skier, below, descending on McCulloch.
We think it’s the way you should think of Tremblant right now too.

The Smile of Joy and Appreciation is completely un-staged and it seems to be
a spontaneous, surprise reaction to the very fine Grip and Angulation Control
being enjoyed by the Skier at this very moment. We Can Relate... As soon
as you realized how much Carving Performance is actually available... you’d smile too!

The Wind was acting as a Surface Refresher over much of the South Yesterday,
so Tracks were being covered almost as soon as they were being made!

There were some Icy Bits, no doubt, but far, far fewer than we might have
thought were possible given the Wild Swing in temps over the previous 24
Hour period. Some of the First Tracks Corduroy was very solid/frozen, so
there was initial noisy progress over the ridges until they got broken in for the day.

The truly amazing thing was the scope of the quality over the vast majority
of the Open Groomed Trail List.

Perhaps one reason for a very quick turnaround back to the Winter surfaces
was the fact that the previous days exposure to “Warm” never made it any
deeper into the top layers than by a handful of CM’s because of the Frost below
holding “Frozen Snow” so close to the surface. If that’s true, then we think it’s a
sign of how much of a stabilizing factor the frost is going to be in the Quality
and Durability of the entire Spring portion of the Season, moving forward from now.

One things for sure, there was almost Zero Mogul Formation, so Trails like La Griffe
off the Expo Quad, were Smooth as Silk all day long...

We Expect that Today will carry those Very Fine Conditions Forward, and to the
next level that another Overnight Grooming Cycle will take them to.

(**)We have been asked if the reduction in the Open Trail Count from 96(*),
two days ago means anything about loss of Snow. The answer on that
would be “NO”. There is No Loss of Trail Snow to any functional degree.
A lot of the Snow in the Trees is gone, but the Trail Snow with the strong
support of the Frost underneath seems untouched.

We think the reduction is simply a matter of Grooming Strategies, Trail Maintenance
and Preservation, as well as Logistics to have Staff and Equipment deployed.
It can take a couple of days to catch up and we’re overjoyed to see the Quality at
the level of excellence it’s at on the currently Opened Trail List.

Go Now If You Can!

Light Weekday Traffic and Really Fine Groomed Surfaces!

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
