66(*) Open Trails on the Pure Spring, Winter Coverage
of the South and North Sides of #Tremblant.
Notwithstanding the April 18th/19th Bonus Weekend...
The Last Official Day Of The Historic 2014/2015 Wild, Whacky, Cold,
but Totally Excellent, Wonderful Winter Season.
T360 Proof of Snow.
Versant Nord, The North Side, Lowell Thomas Trailside 4/11/15.
The records show there are only a handful of Official Closing Days with this
abundance of retained snow in the bush. By this date, the scene above is
frequently bare ground so even though this has not been a record setting
winter for total snowfall, as we have written here many many times...
in a very positive way, “Cold” trumps all other “Winter” factors.
So, this phenomenal residual snow is the direct product of record setting sequential,
sustained, sub-zero number of days we may never ever see recorded here again in
statistical Weather History for the rest of Human habitation on this planet.
scroll ----->>> for complete images In our observations... the summit never broke into “Plus” temps all day
yesterday as you can see above in this Last Run Temp recording on the
Summit Traffic Signal Board.
There was Snow in the Summit level trees all day long to help prove it too.
The Performance Was Outstanding All Day... as the Thermal energy never
got deep enough to overcome the stability of the Frost Supported Base, so
the Shred Depth at Mountain Elevations was just right for Maximum Fun
without ever getting too soggy.
There were some wet saturated sectors eventually, mostly on plateau’s or low
inclined slopes, but typically, there were also shaded sides of whole runs, especially
on the North, that remained Quick all day long.
By historical comparisons, the most surreal part is the almost flawless Wall-to-Wall
Snow White Coverage which is most evident on the Groomed, but very much present
on a lot of the un-groomed and certainly as the “Proof of Snow” lead pic. in this
post shows, an almost unreal amount of Snow in the bush.
Every Descent from the Summit was on Snow that would be thoroughly appreciated
any mid-season day. To have it on the Official Closing weekend is a Gift from
Mother Nature herself.
Caribou Cup Course: 4/11/15:
Based on the Attendance, above ...
Based on the Entrants, below...
Based on the typical “Finishes”...
We would have to say the Annual Caribou Cup was Wildly Successful!
Weather Notes:
All You Need to Know... But ... the most important detail and not to be overlooked...
is the very low Wind Speed Component...
This Low Wind Speed may allow the Deep Frost to radiate
enough Cold Outward to offset Solar Thermal Energy to a significant degree.
You may actually find Surfaces quite wear resistant for much longer
than expected for the high temp at +14 C...
We’ll get back to you on that...
