12/3/15 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Prime Time Mid-Eve. Apres Ski Edit @ 8:30 P.M.

While a lot of people in St. Jovite and other South Base Resort Levels
were being exposed to transient rainy periods today, up at Tremblant’s
Summit, by the time we got there, we had a different “situation”...

Above: We are specifically including this Tremblant Info. Crews Top-Of-Page
because of the jam-packed, very busy, 24Hr. Children’s Charity Fundraiser
Event that has restricted Public access to keep the dedicated Marathon course
clear and safe for participants at Race Speeds.

There’s a lot going on on the Mountain this weekend and there can be detail
about what’s Open, how best to get to the different venues, when things are
happening, to name only a few examples, that are difficult to keep track of.
The Tremblant Info. Crews in their distinctive Yellow/Red Jackets with the big “?”
(Question Mark Symbol) on the back, are the best people to contact if you have
questions of any sort about Tremblant Activities this weekend.

We actively encourage that all your questions be directed to them. They are
all in Radio Contact, so getting the right info for you is easy because
of their network and they are in ready availability around the Mountain
throughout the Open day.

New Terrain Openings:

The Newly Opened Terrain on Beauchemin Haut(upper) was notably wide
and quite level, with a firm centre that still had Grip capacity(with sharp
edges), but offered the best traction and loose surfaces on the outboard sides.

The pic. below is a sample of the descending Right Side of Beauchemin
opposite the Axle entrance.

Taschereau was very similar. The bottom line on all this New Terrain is that
for first day, the Opening Surfaces are Very Fine with virtually no glitches
beyond the firm centre, which frankly after yesterday’s rain and heat, is
totally understandable... BUT... Mountain Crews have already groomed
a lot of great performance into these trails and tomorrow will see better yet.

Mother Nature is gradually filling in Summit Sectors with Natural Snow too,
so the local look is becoming more and more wintery. The ride up the TGV
was like a White Lace Winter Wonderland.

The Big Tremblant News du Jour, X 2...

1) Taschereau/Charron to TGV, OPEN

2) Beauchemin Haut(upper), OPEN

Considering all the recent Weather factors, this is Great News!

Early Season Terrain Expansion can be challenging when there are
borderline temperatures, but Crews have managed to “Bank” enough
Snowmaking inventory to complete this task just in time for prep. work
on the 24Hour Children’s Charity Event to be finalized as well.

Not withstanding the New Terrain Open today, the existing 24Hour Event
Course is Closed for set-up, so the top portion of Beauvallon we’ve had
is now closed, and the entire Summit-To-Base descent on Beauvallon is being
finely tuned to specifications quite close to the width and smoothness
of an Inter-State, 4 lane Highway. The eventual HUGE BENEFIT to Tremblant
Guests will be the Total Mountain South Side Vertical that will become available
to the public when the event is over on Sunday at Noon.

In Seasons past, the 24hr. Event Course, has been Opened as soon as
1:30 to 2:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon, but the real bonus is for anyone
who can plan to attend at Tremblant next week when the whole course
gets added to the Open Trail Count, which consequently takes a big jump
in numbers.

Weather Notes:

Thank Goodness For North, Thank Goodness For Zero C, Snowmaking Technology!

Mother Nature continues to “Sit on the Fence” weather-wise, with low single digit
+ temps between 1 and 5C daytimes and -1 to -6C nighttimes over the next several
days.

Due to the stability added by the overnight sub-zero’s, we don’t anticipate any
significant effects on Ski/Board Surface coverage, however, there may be a
“Spring-like” firm/soft daily pattern with the daily +/- fluctuations.

Today, we have a nice -5C Cooler Summit over the South Resort Level Base,
so with last nights grooming, Speed and Smoothness should not be a problem.
There may be icy sections though, so good edges will likely be your best friend.

Page under Progressive Assembly. Today is another Low Traffic, Mid-Week
day and we like to encourage Regional Tremblant fans to organize schedules
so you can book days like this off or as a Vacation Day, to take advantage of
the HUGE vertical you can get when there’s uninterrupted Ski-On, Ski-Off
and you have uncrowded slopes almost to yourself.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
