Today was pretty much like yesterday, conditions wise.
Soft Snow Trail edges with firm centre’s and variable
amounts of fresh snowfall. The Summit hung on to a
Sub-zero Temp. on the Info. Board Display all day.
The Workout Value of Skiing these conditions can make the best Gym
look like Play-School if you Ski at say 75% of your aerobic max potential.
If you Choose to Cruise... you can still have a well paced workout that will
deplete most muscle reserves after several hours of sustained energy output.
From any legitimate “Athletic” level, if you have any quads left at the end
of the day, you be “Superman".
Any sore muscle feeling is a very good, healthy sensation and it is a
legitimate reason for eating well to replenish protein, electrolytes,
phytochemical nutrients, and such other carb’s/fats/food as will enhance
Post-Exercise recovery and growth.
A Great Early-Season Training/Workout day that any Ski
enthusiast would appreciate on the basis of consistent,
fine, high performance surfaces.

6(*) Open Trails on the South Summit Sector and North Summit to Base at #Tremblant.
(Please Note: This post includes 24Hr Event Public Access Open Terrain Info. below.)
How Lucky We Are...
Taschereau Opens.
In the days prior to “Zero Degree” Snowmaking, just a handful of seasons ago,
we’d be lucky to see these conditions on Taschereau by mid-to-late January.
Dedicated Tremblant Fans have always been both excited and anxious to have
as much Open as possible. The difference now, is that when trails like Taschereau
Open as it did for the first time this season yesterday, it opens with a quality level
that long-term Tremblant Skiers/Boarders did not usually see until later on into
winter.
Despite the recent warm cycling weather, Taschereau Opened in generally very fine
condition with very few natural hazards and almost complete width. No doubt, the
centre where most of the first days traffic traverses over, was firm with some icy
bits, but both outboard sides of this local favourite trail were soft with easy turning
snow very well suited to rapid, short radius “Parallel” turns to control speed.
Those with tuned edges, like the Racers in Training, found lots of grip.
Those without tuned gear, may have found it more icy.
In the Mean-Time...
While People In St.Jovite and other surrounding South Base Level areas
were experiencing rain...
Beauchemin.Bas.Lower.Photography.Poor.Skiing.Great.b.jpg
Snow, and at times quite obviously, a lot of snow...
The occurrence of Snowfall on the Mountain while surrounding areas
get rain is very common when the base level temps are between Zero
and +5C. Yesterday was no exception and Versant Nord, the North Side
got a series of localized snow squalls that were not Blizzards by any means,
but certainly contributed to not only good Trail surfaces, but the overall
Snow White Winter background that enhances any Ski Resort ambience.
The Summit was a combination of revolving Weather factors, but overall
Overcast and still very beautiful in a quiet, peaceful sense.
We included a review reference to yesterday's Opening of Beauchemin Haut(upper)
in last nights Apres Ski, so you can click on the “Previous Topic” button, upper page
right, to have a look at that, but basically, it was much like Taschereau, in fine shape
for any day 1.
Weather Notes:
Overcast with chance of Flurries on the Mountain(maybe rain in town),
Moderate West Wind coming up the Mountain over Taschereau and moving
over the Summit toward Lowell Thomas. Daytime high at South Resort Base
Level @ +4C, so the Summit could remain Sub-zero or maybe + 1C briefly
in mid-afternoon.
Temp’s dropping this eve., and tonight’s South Base low at -4C. Summit
should see -7/-8/-9, C, so there may be some Snowmaking overnight.
Saturday... Sunny and -1C !!! ...Nice!

For those regional Tremblant Fans wondering about a
day on the slopes this weekend while the 24Hr Children’s
Charity Event is running, we want to point out that you will
have at least as much Open as is included today. For those
looking at Sunday, the Event Course, primarily based on
Versant Sud, South Side Beauvallon, typically becomes
publicly available for the afternoon by shortly after lunch.
