T360 Apres Mid-Night, 24 Hr Charity Marathon, Apres Ski @ 2:00 A.M.
Excellent Night Conditions for the 24 Hour Tremblant Children’s Charity Marathon.
Easy early winter temps, a lot warmer than average for this event, but not so warm
as to cause significant loss of either quality or quantity. There is a tendency for
mogul formation in several areas. Two examples are the steeper pitches and the
traffic concentration zones like the top of Roy Scott, just before coming into the
South Base zone.

Mid-Afternoon Update @ 2:00p.m.
The 15th Annual Tremblant 24Hr. Children’s Charity Fundraiser
got off to a 2 stage start promptly at noon with the Walk/Run
group headed out first, followed in just a couple of minutes by
the Skiers/Boarders. The pic below shows the Skiers as indicated
by the Group Sign being held up visible under the right side of the
Welcome/Starting gantry.
Some different things with the start as the location is now above the
cul-de-sac Marriott roundabout and as far as the skiers are concerned,
it’s now a shorter trek to the Gondola and they do not put Ski Boots on
until they get up to the events Base Trail Finish/Lap line.
Within 15 minutes participants had made their way to the Summit
and Skiers/Boarders began to appear at the Finish/Lap line at the South
Resort Base.
A good portion of the course, based on Beauvallon from Summit-to-base
is visible from the view across Lac Tremblant and it seems as though the
Weather forecast was quite close as the sun has come out and is gradually
burning off the the Peak cloud cover.
We will be updating later on, so we look forward to your return visit any time
you can stop by, Thanks!

6(*) Open Trails on North, Summit-to-Base, and
South Summit to Mid-Mountain at TGV Quad.
The 24 Hr Children’s Charity Ski/Board Marathon Fundraiser kicks off
today at Noon and we’ll have coverage of that later on and it’s not too
late to donate! A link to the Official 24Hr Event Website attached below.
The Skiing/Boarding are going to be very “Spring-like” for today.
At the time of this writing(6:55a.m.), there is a 3C indicated spread
between South Base @ +2C, and Summit temp’s @ -1C. If the
forecast holds to actual, by the time the daytime high of +5 arrives,
there will be a minor total vertical thermal exposure. Currently, the Sky
is overcast, however The Weather Network is projecting “Sunny” for
the balance of the day.

For all those regular people who are not attached to the 24 Hr. Event and
are here for a day on the slopes... this is a Surface Sample taken from Thursday
on the Newly Opened Nord/North Beauchemin Haut(upper), that was virtually
identical yesterday and should be another copy today, at least to begin with.
As you can see there is very good “Shred” in the top layers that are
quite soft. As a result of this ambient softness, what starts out very finely
groomed smooth, becomes mogul’d by traffic after a number of hours.
As it’s Saturday with more attendance, that could happen more quickly
today, but for those “Morning People”, you should have a wonderful beginning
of very smooth, high grip performance.
We really like this Taschereau Performance Sample from Thursdays
conditions that are for the most part, continuing on today, and for
the next few days coming up.
Realistically, there have been icy sections to deal with due to the mild
temps that have re-solidified in overnight sub-zero’s. Those sections
have largely responded well to overnight grooming, but a full day’s traffic
can expose them and speed control is a safety essential in zones that
become slick and/or mogul'd from wear.
24Hr Children's Charity Marathon, Public Ski/Board Access Notes:
The best access advice may be to drive to Versant Nord, the North Side,
where there’s ample parking and immediately adjacent to the Duncan Quad
for Summit-To-Base Skiing/Boarding. You will also have Summit to Mid-Mountain
Versant Sud, South Side Open Terrain on Taschereau to Charron and the TGV Quad,
but you will not be able to Ski out on the South Side. You will be able to Download
on the Gondola from what we understand.
Below: Course Preparations have been going on around the clock and by
end-of-day, yesterday, Crews were putting the finishing touches on
all the infrastructure needed to conduct the event safely.
Additional Weather Notes:
------------- Conditions Caveat --------------
The recent and ongoing Temperature swings just above, just below Zero C/32F,
can cause icy sectors to be a factor, particularly where compounded by traffic flow
wear, wind exposure or pitch, or all of those combined.
Please use caution with speed where ever these conditions are apparent
and allow extra space for manoeuvring with the additional Guest numbers
here to attend the Special Event Weekend.
-------------- end of Caveat --------------
There’s a lot going on on the Mountain...
Tremblant360 Recommends Consultation With Tremblant Info. Crews
whenever you have questions, but especially when there’s a special
event running that has many unique situations that can affect access
or Open Terrain.
(File Shot for Illustration)
They are easily identifiable with their distinctive “?” Yellow/Red Jackets
and they are fully bilingual with a Radio Linked Live Network, so they
are simply the best user info source on the Mountain.

Snowmaking and Lift Status for December 5th, 2015, Courtesy of Tremblant.ca
What we call “Zero Degree” Snowmaking(**) has saved the day and allowed
a good base for the start of the Season. The Exercise is Excellent and every
morning starts with Grooming to the smoothest possible. We encourage
participation now as a means of early season muscle and endurance
conditioning. Within the recent regional weather history, we’re very lucky
to have this much Open and the Quality is a big bonus, so make the most
of it and head for Tremblant as soon as you can!
(**) Current Snowmaking Technology that can convert atomized water
particles to Snow under high pressurization at temperatures close up to
Zero C/32 F.
