T360 Apres Ski Early Intro@6:13p.m./Morelaterifpossible.maybe
If you didn’t think it was a Great Day at Tremblant... you were either...
a) Out of Shape and/or, with/on Dull Edges.
b) On Terrain above your actual Skill Level.
c) Playing Golf in Ottawa.
Every Which Way You Looked From The Summit...
It’s a Big Sky at Tremblant!
As we anticipated, Mogul Formation and Icy Substrates became more
common in the Afternoon. This sample shot from Beauchemin shows
the mogul field that was just below the upper Edge Entrance.
The short story is... considering what the regional weather
has been, we are totally lucky to be Skiing on the quality guests
have at Tremblant right now.
More in the Morning!

6(*) Open Trails on South Summit Sector and North Summit-To-Base at #Tremblant.
All Through The Night, They’ve Been Keeping The Pace
On The Tremblant 24 Hr. Children’s Charity Fundraiser
Marathon Course.
And... All through the night, within a few vertical metres of the busy Summit,
the ambience changes completely...
In the quiet stillness of a windless night, only the Ghostly “Whhhiiishhhh” of
passing Skiers and Boarders breaks the etherial silence of the starkly backlit
24 Hr. Marathon course, a “Black and White” world, occasionally punctuated
by the colours of the speeding shapes.
The course has to support all Skill Levels on one track and the use pattern
indicates the GS Fast Lane is the Left Side Descending Lane, Slower Traffic to
the Right.
For Today:
The Taschereau/Charron to TGV Quad remains the Sud, South Side
publicly available Open Terrain this morning.
Every year we get “Do you think it will Open” questions referring to
the 24hr Course, after the Event is over at Noon. They are most notably
from regional suburban Day-Trippers who are very “Curious”, wanting to
know if they can get some runs on these very fine looking slopes .
Historically speaking, the record shows there is at least a chance the
24Hr course may be available in the afternoon, however based on our
experience through the night on the course itself, we would certainly
understand a decision to hold back on that until Monday(tomorrow).
The amount of participant traffic on the course, as well as the very mild
temps that allowed considerable softening of some areas, has generated
mogul fields and icy bits that could be considered above the designated
Trail Difficulty ratings, particularly on the lower South Base approach levels.
Mountain Op’s may decide it's appropriate to re-level, groom and
integrate all the elements of the Sud, South Side Summit-to-base
descent to the bottom of Johannsen, all of which would take quite
a bit of time and machinery.
Consequently, we would support any decision made either way. As much as
everyone would like to have the most Open Terrain possible, there are safety
and logistical maintenance issues that must be respected in a judgement call.
Of the whole Course, the upper portion including La Crete and Beauvallon Haut
(upper), down to the TGV Quad(as of Apres Midnight) was in excellent condition,
so perhaps one option might be to re-open just that section, and work on the
lower half later.
We could be totally wrong on any or all of this though...
...but if you are one of those folks just out for a day on the slopes and wondering,
that’s all we can think of in the range of possibilities.
With attention focused on the South yesterday, we were not able to go Nord,
North, so after the more-or-less all-nighter’ and depending on a major “Cat Nap”,
we hope to get there today. We have every reason to think it would have been fine
within the scope of limited, very early season Open Terrain, so it’s quite probable
there would have been escalating wear factors during the day including moguls and
icy bits, same as the Sud, South Side. Today may well be a repeat of that.
All Passionate Tremblant Ski/Board Fans need to remember how fortunate
we are to be Skiing/Boarding at all, with Eastern North America experiencing
such a mild Fall season. We were talking to friends last night who know people
that were playing Golf in Ottawa yesterday.
Weather Notes:
Virtually Identical to Yesterday with +5 C, moderate breezes from the
Nor-West, coming up the Mountain over Beauvallon and crossing
towards Lowell Thomas.
Forecasted “Sunny”, but as yet somewhat overcast. The Sun is trying
to break through and looking straight up, there is a Blue-ish tint to the Sky.
Another very easy “Spring-like” Fall Ski/Board day.

A Big Step In The Annual Progress Of Both Tremblant’s
Expanding Open Terrain And Summit-To-Base Descent Access.
The Publicly Available Open Terrain is set to expand with the addition
of the Course used by the 24 Hr. Children’s Charity Marathon Fundraiser.
As soon as that happens, Summit-To-Base on BOTH Versant Nord, the North
Side, and Verasnt Sud, the South Side, will be Open for the Season!
