It’s A Toronto(Ski Club) Invasion !!!
The Coaches...
The Kidz...
The More Kidz !!! ...
They’re Takin’ Over The Place !!!
Well Hey, ... if Collingwood’s CLOSED... Go Tremblant!!!
Today’s Skiing/Boarding was incrementally finer than yesterday with
a slightly softer element on Versant Sud, the South Side lower slopes
where sun and wind worked to loosen things up. In our runs there
late aft., there was no mush or mashed potatoes, getting close, but
did not get that soft for us.
Mean-time, the Summit and Nord, North Sectors were all Winter... All Day!
If you look at the two top pic’s above, they were both taken on Beauchemin Bas,
adjacent to the Edge Sector Entrance, where 48 hours ago there was a nasty little
mogul field.
Looking at the second pic above specifically, the moguls of days gone by are
visibly absent, remade with very good Carving Snow over a “Firm” substrate.
You can see the kids carving it up, so if you have the Skills, let ‘em go, if you’re
a beginner, a “Snowplow” shape for braking/steering, a bit of patience, and you’re
through it!
It was a Super Easy day on all accounts and we’d bet real money
that anyone with complaints is probably...
1) On terrain out of their Skill Level,
2) Has dull edges, or...
3) Was born a pessimist.
Even the last major pitch of Beauvallon above the TGV was still
quite smooth and high speed carve-able by end-of-day.
Limited Early Season Terrain, for sure, but Very Fine on just about
every square metre Open!
Tomorrow’s a bit of a “Wild Card” and the forecast for it has changed
numerous times today, so we’ll have to wait for the morning, but it
is going to be Warmer for the next couple days and we’ll have to deal
with that .

13(*) Open Trails on Versant Sud, South, Versant Nord, North Sides of #Tremblant.
If you are looking for some Very Fine East Coast Ski/Board Conditions...
Carve This... If you can...
Versant Sud, the South Side, Beauvallon.
You’re in Luck, because Tremblant just happens to have them right here...
Shred This... If you can...
Versant Sud, the South Side, Beauvallon.
We consider ourselves, and anyone else who happens to be at Tremblant
right now, very fortunate to have the clearly visible performance in almost
every square metre of Open Terrain. What you see in the two pic’s above,
is a common quality on all the groomed trails that we skied yesterday, and
with all the efforts of Mountain Crews overnight, we anticipate another rise
in that refinement for today.(**)
Realistically speaking, there are some slick and/or icy bits, moguls, very rare
natural hazards, and limited early season total terrain, but in the overall picture,
and considering the warm Fall weather and that many regional Ski/Board areas
are not Open at all yet...
It’s really good Skiing and Boarding, very light traffic, no line-ups, no waiting
and you can rack up 30,000 Vertical feet per Day easily... if you have the muscle
and stamina to do it.
(**) Todays anticipated Great “Winter-Like" Conditions may be for a limited time
due to weather changes that could make them great “Spring-Like” conditions and
we talk about that below.
Visiting Race Teams In The Know,
Know Tremblant Is The Place To Go!
Perhaps the largest single, identifiable demographic on the Mountain right
now are the Jr. Race Teams visiting from all over the region. Tremblant’s
great early season conditions and full Mountain vertical, give training a
HUGE jump-start for all the seasons race action to follow, back on their
local hills.
Conditions Update:
Yesterday, in an abundance of Caution, Tremblant had Warning Signs posted at
the Lowell Thomas Base Plateau for Beauchemin Bas, lower, that had previously
seen a lot of Mogul formation and Icy exposed Base at the first pitches, adjacent
to the Edge Sector entrance. Late in the day on Sunday and Monday, this zone
was difficult for beginners and intermediates as accumulated wear caused the
size of the Mogul’d Icy zone to become almost full width and about 150 metres
in length. We wrote about that and posted a location pic in Apres Ski on Sunday.
We used that same Sunday pic as a “Before” and one we took in the same spot
yesterday at Last Run, as “After” for comparisons in last eve’s Apres Ski, because
even by Last Run yesterday, there was still a vast improvement from the Sun./Mond.
end-of-day experience.
Very fortunately, the well below Zero and Grooming of Monday night
rendered the Moguls flat, covered most of the outright icy bits and left a
substantially easier, level surface to deal with. It was still “Solid” yesterday, but
without the irregular deep/sharp bump contours. There were some clearly marked
lateral snowmaking ridges that you needed to steer around, but that was easy to do
over smooth surfaces. With a light coating of machine generated granular overtop,
there was even a healthy degree of carving edge for performance so we hope the
restricted entrance and warning are no longer necessary as it’s now far easier,
Beauchemin Bas is very enjoyable, and it’s always been a great descent to the
Duncan Quad.
One thing to remember...
Skiers and Boarders have to be adaptable to handle unexpected challenges.
Slow speed control and the ability to quickly stop are basic skills that you could
use to get down almost any slope at Tremblant for all skill levels. Even Beginners with
a Snowplow, a slow pace, and a bit of determination, can safely get down through
moguls and icy bits if necessary, with the emphasis on “Slow” and “Stopping".
Weather Notes:
Starts out at -1C, under overcast sky’s, with a rise to +3 C with clearing
and sunny breaks starting at around 11:00A.M. The wind is forecast at
moderate Sou-East, so rising over Duncan and crossing the Summit towards
TGV/Beauvallon.
At cooler Mountain elevations, we think there’s a good chance the Summit
and much of the North Side could remain below zero, so we’re very hopeful
the Snow surfaces will be unaffected for today.
The Long range weather, i.e., next 4 days or so, has many concerned
as there is rain and daytime “+”4/5 C temps forecast. We’ll just have to see
how that all works out, but because the overnight lows are forecast zero
or close at Base levels, we’re also hopeful the Mountain will see below zero’s
at night on it’s cooler elevations to stabilize any of the daytime effects.
