T360 Middle of the Night Shift Apres Ski @ 3:50 A.M.
Warm, Damp, but not necessarily raining all the time.
Foggy Cloud Skiing...
As mentioned below in the body of our original post, dampness
does not necessarily inhibit “Fun”. If you can stay dry, your personal
comfort level goes a long way towards allowing you to focus on the
Skiing and there will be many who can testify regarding the enjoyment
that can be found in these unusual conditions.
Basically all of Eastern North America is experiencing a very warm burp
in temps right now, above the already warm fall recorded in the statistics.
From an operational standpoint, function is greatly enhanced with Yellow
lenses, either in goggles or in glasses. We actually recommend Yellow
Lens Safety Glasses because they keep wind speed out of your eyes,
greatly restore contrast in foggy conditions, and they allow air circulation
so there’s no interior lens fogging. Remember, you are not worried about
goggle seals for warmth, it’s already warm out, so curved, aerodynamic
glasses work great.
The Weather Network says we’re going to have to deal with this for another
24 hours...

12(*) Open Trails, Versant Sud, South, Versant Nord, North, at #Tremblant,
including Summit-To-Base on both sides.
All You Need To Maximize Enjoyment For Today...
...and maybe the next few days too.
File shot, Descente Poncho... your 365 day/yr. option for
outdoor wet weather activity performance comfort.
Otherwise.... Foggy, Soggy, Damp and Warm... sounds yukkky... BUT...
as we all know... “Spring Ski Conditions” can be quite fine, clinically
speaking, very high traction. If things are “damp”, with a wee bit of
preparation, still a ton of fun!
Based on the current long range weather models, it could be a week
before the Daytime High goes back down to Zero, so “Spring-Like”
references to conditions are going to be prevalent for a little while.
Technically, it’s still “Fall”...
Anywhere but the Summit of Tremblant, one look around at all the “Green”
and City People still playing Golf, and you don’t doubt that for a moment.
For all us dedicated Tremblant Ski/Board Winter Fans, we’ve had the Great
and Very Good Fortune to benefit from Zero-Degree Snowmaking and for the
past two weeks, even if it’s only on the snow covered trail descent in front of you...
we’ve had a relatively fine start to a season that would not have existed so far
without enough Northerly “Cool” and Mountain Crews 'round the clock efforts.
Our Thanks to Tremblant’s Mountain Op’s for great Ski/Board
results in the face of Mother Natures warm embrace.
The Saving Grace In The Long Range Weather....
The One Thing That Has The Possibility To Sustain The Precious Snow Surfaces...
The Overnight Lows forecast for South Resort Base Levels are ALL at Zero, One,
or Two Degrees C for the next 4 days, and - One, - Two Degrees C, below Zero
for the three days after.
What That Means... is that due to the Cooler Elevation Differential at roughly -4C,
the Summit Sectors, both sides, and most of the North vertical, should see Overnight
Sub-Zero’s that should stabilize surfaces with a re-freeze daily, inhibiting coverage loss.
We think that’s the best chance the Mountain has for holding on to as much snow covered
acreage as possible.
We Are Not Using An Annotated Weather Network Graphic Because...
after taking about a dozen Screenshots over the space of 24 hours, it keeps
on changing, Up, down, drier, wetter, sunny, overcast... you name it, and
the the forecast has had all different kinds of projections in rapid sequence,
so we do not have a consistent forecast model to use as a reference.
The only element common in the long range model has been the Overnight Lows
and if we had to choose one thing out of the whole picture, those Lows that could
hopefully reduce coverage loss would be it.
The Possibility even exists that at these projected overnight lows, any precipitation
on the Mountain at night could come as SNOW!
Only time will tell...
Of all the near-term weather, tomorrow, Friday, is forecast to be the warmest
daytime @ South Base +8C with revised “Showers”/“Light Rain”, so the weather
being what the weather is, Showers travel in bands across the region and it is
possible that the Mountain may escape the path of at least some of it.
