12(*) Open Trails on South and North Sides of #Tremblant.

What a relief. In the face of a very significant Natural Weather phenomenon,
the Tremblant Alpine Snow Sports Trail Network endures.

We could not be any more happy, unless maybe there had been a 40cm Snowfall
Blizzard, but all things considered, to come out on the cool side of a warm period
like that with a fully retained Trail Count is certainly one of the best outcomes possible.

The Summit is quite nicely below zero at -4C, there actually has been a very light
dusting of natural snow over the entire Mountain and Snowmaking is going to continue
in some areas through the day.

Proof of Sunrise Summit Snowmaking.

Conditions this morning will include a highly variable degree of soft and solid
surfaces of combined machine made granular over a firm or frozen base.
Surface particle size may range from very fine Blown Snow to larger, course size
chunky bits where ice has been broken up to render out Skiable surfaces
with good control capability.

There will be Sweet Spots of very fine carving this morning and they should,
for the most part, improve with Mountain Ski/Board user traffic as repeated
travel with sharp edges overtop absolutely benefits the particle size reduction
process.

There may also be icy bits either apparent or revealed during the course of the day,
particularly on steeper pitches or where there are traffic concentrations such as trail
narrowing’s, intersections or run-outs, so please use caution with speed entering, and
through those zones.

Conditions after any thaw/freeze/snowmaking/grooming cycle benefit from
daily, incremental refinements, especially when there are Snowmaking additions,
so we can expect to see these cycling qualities over any forecast period that
includes above/below 0C in the near-term future.

Weather Notes:

Today starts out overcast and just below zero, with clearing to a Sunny Sky
and a rise to +1C forecast for this afternoon with a moderate Sou-East breeze
rising over Duncan and crossing the Summit towards Beauvallon.
So far, with the greyness in the Sky, it seems a bit unlikely that
“Sunny” is close at hand, but whenever there’s a break into “+” value
daytime highs, even if it’s only a degree or two, we’re happy to keep
“Overcast” because extra Solar Energy is not what Ski/Board Trails need.

Temp’s are forecasted to go back down to -3C at South Resort Base level tonight.

It should be a good night for Snowmaking.

Long Range Weather:

This is important for those planing a Ski/Board visit to Tremblant any time
from tomorrow, right through ’til after Xmas/Boxing Day.

We feel it’s important to re-enforce the potential benefits of making Tremblant
your choice for Skiing or Boarding within the time period covered by the forecast
above. The reasons are three-fold. Firstly, we feel Tremblant’s Northerly Latitude
within all its regional peers gives it an advantage when East Coast Temp’s are
floating around so close to the freezing mark. For the most part “North” has
more consistent cool than “South” and when it’s only a matter of a couple
of degrees between “Snow” and “Thaw”, “Snow” is usually attached to “North”.
Secondly, the elevation temperature differential at 645 Metres or 2100 Feet
straight up where Tremblant’s Summit is cooler. This point may be more directly
applicable for those living within 150 Kilometre circle of Tremblant who normally
may choose between Tremblant and smaller, lower laying local Ski Hills.
Thirdly, Tremblant has the Economic and Human resources to apply quickly and
directly to optimize whatever challenges or opportunities come along. Sticking with
the “Big Guns” has its advantages.

Bottom Line on this Point is that planing “Tremblant” affords you a higher probability
of good conditions in the face of any of Mother Nature’s “(warm)Whims”.

--------------- Apres Ski Edit Insert ----------------

Near-Term Snowmaking New Open Terrain Development...
as indicated by the “Snowmaking Icons” in the Archival
copy of the Official Snow Report above.

(Please Note: This list excludes pre-existing or previously
Open Terrain that may have Snowmaking Maintenance.)

Versant Sud, South Side:

McCulloch

Versant Nord, North Side:

Andy Moe
La Traverse
Rigodon
Rope Tow

Given the highly variable and “Not For Sure” Temp/Precip factors,
all of this is “Weather Permitting”, but notwithstanding that, we’d
say if it is “Weather Permitted”, look for these Trails as a Christmas
Present... maybe???

We could be wrong... but one thing’s for sure...

They’re Workin’ on it now!

What we’re looking forward to now is the return to a more normal seasonal
temperature pattern that includes daily sub-zero opportunities for Snowmaking.
It’s up to all the Core Group of Tremblant Fans and Enthusiasts to drag out all
our friends to go Skiing/Boarding and make the most of it!

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
