T360 Apres Midnight, Apres Ski @ 1:40 A.M.

By just around midnight, Night-Shift Crews can be seen rigging up the
big Snowguns and within an hour, production is at Full Speed Ahead!!!

12(*) Open Trails on Versant Sud, South, Versant Nord, North sides of #Tremblant.
Personally, we think it’s just about a miracle that with the extended
warm, wet, weather that the Open Trail Count has remained up at 12(*).
There is no question in our opinion that Tremblant Mountain Crews
are the Hero’s of the day. None of the Open Terrain would be possible,
let alone in the comparatively fine shape it’s in, without the massive
around the clock efforts of this talented team.
The only specifically temp related closing this morning is Nansen,
as stated on the preamble for todays Official Tremblant.ca Snow Report.
Other than that, Taschereau continues to be “Race” designated for the
morning, so by the end of the day, the Open number should climb by one.
With conditions almost ideally suited to Late Fall, Suburban Golfing...
Ski/Board Fans all up and down the North American Eastern Seaboard
are fearfully concerned about this seasons startup, but at Tremblant
fears have been set aside day after day by the Open Trail numbers
that with minor adjustment, so far have basically only gone up to the
point we’re at today.
Now that todays Official Trail Trail Data has been published, all we need
to be concerned with at Tremblant is bridging the final warm hours of
Open daytime today, until the forecasted return to Sub-Zero just after
sundown this evening.
Beyond Today...
If you plan to get out between now and the Christmas Holiday,
We think there’s solid evidence for a Positive Outlook
from tonight onward.

Currently it is Pea-Soup Fog at the Summit with +3C, and +4C at Versant Sud,
the South Side Resort Base.
Obviously the entire Open Terrain inventory will be “Spring” rated soft snow,
but equally obvious are the easy temps that with proper preparation, i.e.,
use of a Descente Poncho or similar to stay dry, use of yellow lens to enhance
contrast vision issues in grey light, will facilitate optimum utility.
The human brain usually references the enjoyment of sport activity based on
a predetermined expectation for ambient surroundings. In the case of Skiing
and Boarding, the ideal winter conditions perceived desirable are any degree
of intense Natural Snowfall, or Cool, but not too Cool, bright Sunny Days with
a Snow White covered background for examples. The fact remains though, that
days like today can have very enjoyable performance underfoot, regardless of
the less than ideal surroundings. The point is... getting the most out of today
is largely in your head, because underfoot will have very fine grip and control
typical of any soft, Spring type surfaces.
We Continue To Be Optimistic... about new Open Terrain Expansion,
once the temps get cool enough to support Snowmaking. We continue to regard
the Snowmaking List in a sense, as a “Preview” list where it has been indicated on
previously unopened trails.
Yesterday, we featured a retrospective look at Versant Nord, North Side Summit
Sector Trail Andy Moe(you can review that by using the “Previous Topic” button,
upper screen right below tool bar). Andy Moe was on the “Snowmaking” list Sunday
night.
Focused on the Future.(a)
Today we want to draw attention to another, and when opened, far more populated
sector on the last “Snowmaking” list, “Rope Tow” from the Nord, North Summit, down
to La Traverse or Rigodon. For the last number of seasons(getting upwards of 10 years
now?), "Rope Tow” has been the centre of the Versant Nord, North Side Park Feature
Zone, so it’s very popular with Park Fans.

At this stage of early season terrain development, the descent path from
Rope Tow uses either La Traverse to Beauchemin Haut, or Rigodon to the
immediate adjacent right(looking up), of the Lowell Thomas Triple Chair Lift
Base. See Below:

Regardless of changes to the amount of snow left there by the recent “Warm”
influences, saturating the ground and having it refrozen if anything, may help
facilitate rapid Snowmaking coverage due to the resultant thick, solid, mantle.

On a very positive note for Open Terrain Expansion and existing quality
improvement once we get back to suitable temp's, we’d like to point out the
most recent Snowmaking Icons on the Official Report from Sunday as one
of the best indicators of maintenance and future Terrain development.
That list includes:
Versant Sud, South Side:
Beauvallon Haut(upper).
McCulloch
Mi Chemin(from Nansen to TGV Quad Base)
Nansen Haut(upper)
Versant Nord, North Side:
Any Moe
Beauchemin Bas(lower)
Beauchemin Haut(upper)
Duncan Bas(lower)
Duncan Haut(upper)
La Traverse
Rigodon
Rope Tow
Anecdotally, and from nothing other than previous Icon listings and actual
on-hill observations, we’ve seen Snowmaking on both Gagnon and Vanier
indicating at least some intent to begin expansion within the Expo Quad
serviced Terrain.
