Banzai - “Open”
Marie Claude Asselin - “Open"
Here is a December Past, File Shot of Banzai looking down, at the Mid-Point entrance
where the Cat-Track crosses from Lowell Thomas to Duncan.
This is a Huge and Most Important point as an overall indicator of the
steady improvements in the rate of Natural Snow Accumulation because these
trails have no Snowmaking support, so when they “Open” it’s due to nothing
other than enough adequate Natural Snowfall as certified by the Ski Patrol.
History shows... it is possible that depending on the wear factors in relation
to the natural snow base on these trails, that they may come off and back on the
“Open” list while the early season base grows and Mountain Crews manage the
snow resources there.

It’s Still Snowing at Tremblant...
We are very pleased to report that Nansen Bas, lower, is showing “Open” this morning.
All the equipment, and all the snow, were the best support signs of this excellent news
being imminent.
We discussed the significance of Nansen Bas in yesterday’s report, so today’s lower
South Side conditions should realize a substantial increase in all-day surface quality,
and depending on attendance, relief from traffic congestion that can now find more
appropriate terrain matches to Skill Levels.
Over recent days you may notice a range of pic.quality that reflects photography
in very poor picture taking conditions that are excellent Ski conditions. Light, contrast,
blowing and swirling Snow are all highly variable, sometimes within as little as a
handful of metres away. There has been much of the time when camera is virtually
impossible to keep snow out or off of. We are always happy to have these kinds of
problems because of the ultimate benefit to conditions.
Continuation from yesterday’s “Reasons”...
Here’s Another Reason Conditions Are As Good As They Are At Tremblant...
#1, Best Grooming In Eastern Canada “Ski Magazine”
2015 Fall Resorts Guide, Reader Survey.
Tremblant Mountain Crews Are Masters Of Snowfall Integration
and are pictured here getting ready to Groom in last Tuesday’s Blizzard.
Weather Notes:
We are re-running this annotated graphic from yesterday as it still applies
to all near-term Tremblant visit planners. We absolutely love the 24hour
sub-zero’s of this forecast model due to the incremental refinements that
should elevate the consistency of surface conditions to very fine “Pure Winter”,
those “Best of Season” conditions that do not have any significant traces of
“thaw” in the top Groomed layers.
Conditions Notes:
Carving Quality over the next few days/weeks holds every promise of moving
from overall “Good” to “Very Fine” due to the steady below zero around
the clock temp’s that allow Mountain Crews to numerously repeat Grooming
cycles over snow that does not have any recent icy thaw components.
The advantages of “Pure Winter” that we expect to see over the next while
will apply to all Skill Level Open Groomed Terrain. We are finally catching up
with a more typical seasonal situation. Clinically speaking, we still have a ways
to go to, after all, the whole East Coast of North America has just come out of
a record breaking hot Fall, but we are well on the way to reversing those effects
now with 63 cm’s of Natural Snowfall in a week, plus the extended projections for
below zero’s.
On the Un-groomed Open Expert Terrain, there will be a higher degree of variation.
Drifting around land contours dramatically affects the way the wind deposits snowfall
over any descent so caution on any exploratory runs needs to be your primary mode.

Snowmaking and Lift Status for January 2nd, 2016, Courtesy of Tremblant.ca
The Skiing And Snowboarding at Tremblant are getting better every day
with the rapid development of new Open Terrain. Mother Nature and
Mountain Crews are working synergistically in a very positive way, so
all you need to do is get out to take advantage of that.
