T360 Late Eve., Apres Ski Edit Under Construct @ 10:45 P.M.

Springy, Warm, Damp, but still good Groomed Skiing!(**)

Between Wet Snow and Rain, we found out how much water exposure
it takes to render a good Canon Camera temporarily inoperable.

None of that had anything to do with the fine quality of Groomed Skiing either...
it’s just that the combination of wind, snow, and water overwhelmed the Telephoto
lens, got driven into the barrel affecting the Zoom first and secondly into the control
switches. Apparently at that point, it went into a protective shut-down mode
because after several hours in front of a portable heater fan, once thoroughly
dried out... it sprang back to life and seems fully functional!

(**)We had a good conversation with a Burlington Vermont Resident who came
up to Tremblant for some good Boarding and found that it was a real workout
on a Board yesterday because of surface moisture induced Drag/Resistance
on the Boards base, making plateaus difficult to keep speed on. In the meantime,
our “Warm” Coated Ski bases were whizzing everywhere with great speed and
with any kind of skating action on Skis, you could actually add speed at will, so...
there you have two quite different experiences for the same day, on the same Mountain.

We sent them into Le Ski Shoppe at the Chalet des Voyageurs and told them to ask
for a "Jasey J Anderson Snowboard Tuneup/Wax”... we hope they made it.

Moral of the story... As discussed with our new Vermont Friend... it does not make
sense to spend all the cash to travel, stay, Ski/Board and have dull, out of tune gear
that slows you down for the sake of the few and very little bucks it takes to
optimize your Ski/Board days here with a tune-up.

That could change today... (**)From The Official Tremblant.ca Snow Report:

"Mother Nature does not seem to be on our side today, according to Environement
Canada, Periods of drizzle changing to rain at times heavy this morning.
Fog patches dissipating this morning. Wind becoming southeast 30 km/h gusting to
50 near noon. High plus 5. Nevertheless, our snow team has been out on the
mountain all night working their magic to offer you the nicest and largest skiable
domain in the Laurentians. Training and race will be held in McCulloch, Traverse
and Gagnon all day long and in Nansen Pitch all morning long. Due to strong wind,
our trails and lifts may close for safety purposes without notice. Please take
note that alpine touring is now available through Beauchemin on the North Side
and Vertigo, Saskatch are your ways up on the South. See you on the slopes.”

Weather Notes:

As Notated Herein, we think one of the most important points
is going to be just how much of All Open Terrain Mountain Crews
can get groomed in, because from a Skiers Use P.O.V., Frozen “Smooth”
is always better than Frozen “Bumpy” on any Open Terrain.

Here is what you need for all “Damp” Weather Skiing:

This Brilliantly Simple and Inexpensive Descente Poncho turns ANY wet day
into "Dry Fun Anyway”.
(It is 4 Season Useful, weighs mere ounces, and folds
away easily into any small storage space.)

More Following Later On... as time permits.

In Meantime... all the Groomed will be quite fine, regardless of “Weather” today.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
