T360 Prime Time Evening Apres Ski Under Construction @ 10:10 P.M.

We would not find it difficult to understand any “Disbelief” if we told you
just how much fun it was at Tremblant today...
IF YOU HAVE THE SKILLS...

So, we’re posting this imperfect picture, it’s a bit grainy, out of focus, flat, low contrast
light, but it does convey exactly what we’re referring to and...

...You Don’t Have to Take Our Word For It,
Because It’s A Pic Of A Very Credible Third Party:

To Have Fun On A Day Like Today,
All You Have To Do Is “Learn This"

This Tremblant Ski Instructor Is Showing You Exactly
What Kind Of Performance Could Be Executed Today... If You Have The Skills...

Skiing at this level on these surfaces is challenging because the Post Thaw/Froze
Particle size is large and course... like “Golf Balls”, maybe a bit smaller, a few larger.

It Is Highly Technical Skiing, but actually not to hard to do if you can get over
the vibration feedback coming up from the surface. It needs a bit more speed
and a larger turn radius, but with sharp edges, the bite is remarkable. Look at the
pic. above again. We can tell you, and you can see, there’s quite decent grip
and the speed is obvious.

Now Then... As a complete coincidence, we just happened to see the same
Instructor with a student on a subsequent run... on the same spot as the top
pic above.

It is possible to learn and practice “Beginner" on this surface too... take a look at this:

As the sun was going in/out, you can see the ambient light conditions between
the two pic’s above were changing, literally sometimes, from moment to moment.

Summit Sunny and Grey at the same time!

After a Warm/Wet to KKKoool/Froze cycle, the Open Trail List can be changing by
the hour sometimes, so we recommend frequent consultation with Tremblant’s
Fully Bilingual, Fully Informed, Fully Radio Connected Info. Crews with their
distinctive “?” Uniforms as shown above.

Tomorrow Will Be Even Better!

... They’re Workin’ On It Now!

With another Night Shift of Grooming, All Skill Levels
Will Find More “User Friendly” Tomorrow!

--------------------- 8:18 A.M. Orig. Post ------------------------

27(*) Open Trails on South and North Sides of #Tremblant.

Back To Basic's

Beauvallon, Beauchemin, Duncan, Nansen... All Groomed... Summit-To-Base.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Mid-Day Addendum/Correction to Actual: Duncan is Groomed, Being Groomed, but
is not Open. Our List above is technically correct in-so-far-as “Groomed” but it
also implied open which is not correct.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

When Mother Nature decides to lay a wet one on all of Eastern North America...
There’s not a damn thing Humans can do about it other than adapt and move forward
in the quickest, most efficient way possible.

Mountain Crews were doing that all night with the
Basic Descent’s of South/North, Total Mountain Vertical.

This Nansen Bas(Lower), scene from the day before yesterday, may look a bit different
in the bush, but the Trail Surface should be much the same right this second, smooth,
wide and easy.

Weather Notes:

Yesterday got up to +5 C with a bunch of rain...

so... based on the Forecast below...

The Laws Of Physics Allow Us To Conclude Things Will Be “Different” Today.

Of Course... we always look for the positive side of things, so what we’re
looking forward to is a fairly rapid recovery as Mountain Crews deploy the
Groomer/Packer Fleet. We think the Open Trail Count could roughly Double
in 48 hours. There will be Good Skiing/Boarding within the Groomed Open
Terrain starting from right now, this morning.

Optimists will always be subjected to criticism at times like this, so we’re
ready for the smirks of contempt, but seriously, the Snow in the forecast
for today arrived before Sun-up, at this moment, sunshine. With light weekday
traffic and with recently tuned Skis, it’s going to be a 30,000 Vertical foot day,
easy... maybe even 40,000 Vert. Limited Terrain? ...for sure, but all the basic’s
are in place for a speedy return to normal within hours, so hang in there
Tremblant Fans, as we get set to find out where all those “Sweet Spots”
of good Skiing are out there. Plus... 2 more days with Snow to start with,
Steady Cool Temp’s, more snow forecast later on...
That’s why we’re still expecting a great week of Skiing at Tremblant!

Conditions Notes:

------------------ Conditions Caveat -----------------

From +5C/rainy, to -11C gets you Icy Substrates today. Even if there was a coating
of early morning snow over the Open Terrain, careful, slow speed exploration
is required for initial descents, as slick portions may present without notice.

Verify safe passage with slow careful navigation before ripping around.

Allow extra room between yourself and others for additional safety margins
and scan 360 degrees as you approach trail intersections and entrance/exits
as well as over crests, on steeper pitches and before you trail-side stop.

-------------------- End of Caveat ---------------

Tremblant’s Basic Versant Sud, South, Versant Nord, North, Main Trail
Descents are all Open and Groomed, so we need to have patience while
Mountain Crews work on their recovery strategy for the rest. Overnight
Grooming should yield more Open Trails and incremental increases in
surface quality, but in any event, best results will come with tuned gear.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
