Some of the best Drift-in Snow at Tremblant on Soleil.
Very Good To Very Fine Shred Qualities for both Skis/Boards
and filling in quite nicely on the alternating dips and bends of
Toboggan!

Soleil Sector Laurentienne was not on the Open List, but based on the way
the Snowfall was drifting in around this Sector, we are Guesstimating that
it had the best Looking “Chairlift Observable” snow of anywhere readily
visible on the Mountain. Will it be Open tomorrow??? No Idea... but very cool
if it was.

Heavy Swirling Snow, Bad Photography, Potentially Excellent Skiing!

In our Orig. Post below, we said:
"Riding up the Duncan Quad should be easy with the Tail Wind”...
We got that one right...

Now for the details... and we’re going to start with the Summary First...

The Main Reason Tremblant Is In Such Good Condition Is:

The Mountain Op’s Crews at Tremblant Are the Best There Are In Eastern Canada.Period.

This pic. below is very important for the following reasons:

1) It shows the very dramatic differences between the coarseness and the fineness
of the Grooming process steps that get us the uniform surface quality of the finished
Open Trail.

2) Tremblant has the Hardware and the Talent To Get The Job Done!
The current Fleet of BR350’s and Prinoth Bison Groomer/Packers is operated
by the many of the most Talented Personnel in the known Ski Resort world,
some of them here as we understand it, are Third Generation Mountain Op’s,
with Provenance going all the way back to 1938.

3) The “New” width of Duncan’s Upper Summit Sector Pitch is between
Double and Triple the width of the old dimension in a pie shape, creating
a way, way easier descent to the Great Terrain below. The section you’re
looking at here we estimate at about 50 feet, or 15 Metres wider than it’s
been for the last 60 some-odd years. A Hugely Effective, and simply Brilliant
modification enhancing great “User Friendly” increases here.

(sorry about the slightly fuzzy pic.quality. It was a 1000mm equivalent Hand-Held
Telephoto taken over bouncy lift towers from the Duncan Quad going over
Vanier, way back down, adjacent to the Expo Peak.)

New Kid On The Block...

Brand new arrival at Tremblant 48 hours ago and already hard at work!

It’s true the Open Terrain is Limited due to the recent “Weather”,
but what is open is not only relatively fine to begin with, but it’s improving
in BOTH quality and scope, literally every hour.

While a lot of those improvements are due to Mountain Crews, there’s no doubt
Skiers and Boarder Traffic help too. Thousands of passages of edges over granular
surfaces definitely help break down the particle size and the difference between
“First Tracks” and “Last Run” are very apparent if you make both first and last runs
on the same Trail.

You Need To Get Out And Do Your Part!

The status of Open Trails and Conditions is highly “Dynamic”, with changes
that can happening by the hour. Regardless of your familiarity with Tremblant,
everyone from “Newbies” to “Frequent Fliers” can benefit from their fully
Radio-Controlled Sources of constantly updated information. We use them
almost every day and with so much going on... you should too.

Weather Notes:

It’s “Cool” out at -17C, first thing, but rising to an easier -7C by 2:00 P.M.
and with Overcast and more Snow in the forecast for today also.

Winds forecast at moderate to strong Easterly, so coming up the Mountain over
Versant Nord, North Side’s Beauchemin and crossing the Summit towards McCulloch.
Riding up the Duncan Quad should be easy with the Tail Wind, but cresting either
Duncan, Beauchemin or P’tit Bonheur may seem quite “Breezy”!

Pretty much the Opposite of Yesterday, wind wise, but temp wise, a wee bit warmer.

Conditions Notes:

Keep in mind that conditions are relative, so considering the weather Mother Nature
has subjected the entire East Side of the North American Continent to, Tremblant ranks
at the very top of the Terrain Quality you can find on the East Coast. Even Then...
Weather notwithstanding, it’s still very fine Skiing.

Specifically For Boarders... The return to “Froze” is good news for Boarders we are
told, because there’s no hydrodynamic drag from dampness in the Snow, so traversing
plateau’s is far easier with a bit of momentum off any pitch that can now carry you a
far greater distance without having to Pump the Board or take a foot out.

Go when you can, go as often as you can, adapt to conditions as necessary
and become a better Skier and a stronger person as a result of the superb workout
value of any day at Tremblant.
