T360 Late Eve., Just before Midnight, Apres Ski @11:45 P.M.


Much Warmer, but not too warm...


And, Still Very Fine Groomed Ski Conditions...






These two shots above and below, taken on upper Lowell Thomas Trail
are samples of typical of almost the entire range of Groomed Conditions
at Tremblant right now that we would call at roughly 95%.






Basically, due to variable shifts in wind direction over the past several days of
natural snowfall, plus Mountain Crews Snowmaking, virtually the whole Mountain
has received fresh Snow surfaces to one degree or another. All 4 sectors of Tremblant
have also taken their turn at getting Lee-side Drifting too, so there are some really fun
Trail-Side edges where the wind has laid in depths that exceed the statistical snowfall
totals.

All Skill Levels, Beginner, Intermediate and Experts, are enjoying Groomed
Conditions that are at “Seasons Best”, following a week of overnight Trail
Grooming maintenance cycles. The degree of refinement in combination with
the past weeks very cool overnight lows, has brought forward high performance
Grip, Traction, Carving Edge Hold, and/or any other descriptive verbiage that can
be applied with the most positive Ski User Feedback.

Just to stay “Real”....

Within our current experience, we have only encountered one Icy section
that is even worth mentioning(there could be more, we just never ran
into any others), so we’ll add it here so no one can accuse us of ignoring it.

The One Icy Bit we've found in the past two days is Mid-McCulloch, the run-out
just below the main pitch, as it becomes the “S” shape that works it’s way down
towards the TGV.






This section has been used extensively over the last week as a Race Course,
so it’s had a lot of heavy duty use and as we skied it, it appears to have
had quite a bit of Wind Force that’s kept Snowfall from “Sticking”. If you Skied
off McCulloch’s Pitch with any significant speed(hard to avoid due to “Gravity”),
you got a definite surprise as you tried to make your first turn... OOooops!
Weeee...here we go... sideways. This is exactly why we say... "Explore with
Caution”, or words to that effect.

Report Summary:
If You’re Not Here, You’re In The Wrong Place.






The Skiing on the Open Groomed Terrain is superlative.
We are not Boarders, but certainly the recent cold snap made the snow
very Fast, so what we see is that Boarders are traversing plateaus
quite easily with sustained, low friction momentum. Of Course...
each new day can be different, but those are our recent observations,
up to and including yesterday.

Please Note: Flat, Low Contrast, Snowy, Lens Coating Snow-Foggy, Overcast, Wind-Whipped
somewhat “Dark”, and/or Shadowy, Ambient Light Conditions are not ideal for photography.
Consequently, we are not that happy with the pic’s in these, or any similar conditions,
because they do not adequately convey the scenic scope or performance detail to a
fraction of what the Human eye sees here, on site. They are however, better than nothing,
so within the availability of affordable, practical, portable, current imagery technologies,
we do the best we can.

Our Default Pic. Priority is Skiable, Snow Surface Detail, so pic’s may have any
or all processing elements altered to show the best possible, most accurate
rendering of Trail surfaces you would be descending on with Skis or Snowboard
as a means of evidentiary support for a positive decision to Ski/Board at Tremblant.

The Edge Sector Opened Yesterday and some of the conditions were
left au natural. There is quite a bit of Drifted Snow in the Tree-Skiing/Boarding.






The Open Listed Trail is #88 “Action”, with superseding Ski Patrol Hand Posted Signage.
The Big Bump Snow is smooth enough, however there are some slick/icy bits,
particularly on the down-side of some bumps.






There are irregular depths of drifted natural snow around the bumps that
can alter forward resistance amounts between feet that may individually
encounter deeper snow pockets, so slow speed and a tight, feet together
stance are useful in order to maintain control and balance.









Weather Notes:

To Begin With... About 15 degrees C WARMER than yesterday.

...with a projected daytime high of -2C at South Resort Base Levels, so
the Mountain should remain quite nicely sub-zero around -4C/-6C,
and all-day, mild Winter.

2 Utility Notices:


1) Porte du Soleil Chair Lift from P2 Up to La Carriole, running to Soleil Quad Base on the right side,
and running left over to the Resort South Base.






This is a very handy access point when there’s a good crowd out as the Soleil Quad is almost never
as busy as the Resort South Base Gondola, so if you want to get a quick pass to the Summit, this is
a good option.








2) Vision/Speed Through Snowmaking Zones: Use Extreme Caution in
Vision Obscured Snowmaking Zones. We have witnessed some very close
calls as careless people breach the Snowmaking zones with way too much
speed and narrowly missing impacts. We think one of the best ways to
navigate these zones is to pause above them, allow surrounding traffic
to move through them, then proceed. Scanning for speeders and letting
them go ahead is often the best way to avoid unexpected contact.

Un-groomed Expert Terrain has variable degrees of Natural Hazards that
require complete attention to speed and navigation to minimize potential
contact or damage to Ski/Board bases.

Hazards in Un-Groomed Expert Terrain may be covered with layers of loose,
Skier/Boarder displaced Snow which may render them not visible on approach.

Skiing/Boarding Un-groomed involves Risk acknowledged upon entrance.

Sunday Weather Notes:


Weather for Sunday Forecast Sunny, back to “Cool” at -16 C first thing, but rising
to an eventual -9 C by mid-afternoon.

We think that’s going to make for a Very Fine day of performance
on very well chilled overnight Snow.
