T360 Mid-Night Apres Ski Edit @ 12:00 A.M.

We are not sure how best to describe the Forces that were with you today...

But they were very powerful Forces to be sure...

...including the little “Funnel” Cloud/Swirls blowing up Beauvallon.

The Ski Forces:

The Skiing was arguably one of, if not the, fastest High Traction day(s) we’ve
this season. There may have been faster days that were icy way back when,
but today was Mega Fast, Mega Carve Day with North and South Grip Levels
that felt like you were pushing the limits of the Laws Of Physics as they apply
to lateral adhesion.

The Weather Forces:

You can see the Wind Force in all these pic’s, but what you may not get is how
much domination the wind had in the days ambience. There was not a single
square Cm. on the whole Mountain that did not feel that at some point today.
That comment should not be interpreted as a negative however, because we
think it’s partly the pervasive capabilities of the wind component to potentiate
the Widespread Cryogenic Performance of the Snow Surfaces over most of the
Mountain. That’s our theory anyway...

There was no escaping it’s awesome reach over the far corners of Tremblant’s domain.

And the benefit was the similarity in the performance from one Sector to Another.

There Was Actually Documented “Blue Sky” ... for a few moments...

KKKkkkkooooll, But FFFFFffffaaanntastic Skiing Conditions on the vast majority of
Tremblant’s Groomed Trail Surfaces.

At The End Of The Day...

Very Strong Wind... in some focused places, it could almost push you
back up the Mountain...

It Should Be Noted... that the Carving Surface of this trail below is not as readily
Visible as usual due to a sort of Boundary Layer of Snow Blast coming straight up.
The “mottled” look of the foreground is actually swirling Snow Dust moving
rapidly up the hill about 2 to 4 inches off the ground.

All The Incremental Surface Improvements we expected were actually better
than we had hoped for.
Outstanding Carving Performance that will probably
be another notch up tomorrow if you can believe that. Generally the North Held
the advantage due to the greater depths of drifted snow from yesterday, but
everything we skied, got a positive upgrade from Overnight, last night, and at
this time we see no reason why that won’t happen again tonight.

That Makes tomorrow worth changing plans for, if you can get to Tremblant.

77(*) Open Trails On The Very Heavily Snowed In 4 Sides Of #Tremblant.

Big, Big, Snow Means “Fun" Today...

“Insurance" For The Season...

This is an Edge Sector Trail-Side Drift Line of approximately 50cm’s.
The snow is not this deep everywhere, but that’s the whole point.

While the Stat’s say for example 18cm’s, the “Force” behind the delivery, i.e., the “Wind”...
lays the Snow down in very interesting and very fun ways and places around the
Mountains Topographical Contours that could take a week to uncover, let alone what
you can get to in a day.

Extraordinarily Deep, Fresh, Snow favours those with “Expert” Skills.
Obviously, a Beginner stuck in the middle of a huge drift like the one
pictured above is not going to have the same positive Expert's experience,
but that’s where the Tremblant Mountain Op’s come into the picture and
that’s also the point of this reports opening statement...

From Above...

"Big, Big Snow Means “Fun" Today....” at least for Experts, but once Packed/Groomed
into the base, like a lot of it was last night....

“”Insurance" For The Season...” in that every single Base-Retained Snowflake
Groomed into the existing base not only provides Beginners with Outstanding
Green Rated Terrain this morning, but everywhere it’s eventually integrated into
over the coming days, becomes more durable for the entire future of the Season.

Above we say “Eventually Integrated”, and that’s an important point this morning
because while there will be some great “Green”/“Easy” Terrain this morning, it may
take between 2 to 4 days of repeated overnight Grooming Cycles to work in this
much snow over the entire array of regularly scheduled list of Groomed Trails.

Above:
We think it’s interesting to note that in the case of Nansen, while there were 30cm
Drift Lines along some of it’s sides, there was just enough Skier/Board Traffic to keep
a beautifully easy Beginner descent path right down the middle, for virtually it’s
entire 6.2 Kilometre length. Case-in-point of a Trail Example yesterday that could
appeal to Both “Experts”, “Beginners” plus all in between, at the same time, and all
these conditions running parallel, within a handful of metres apart.

There will continue to be very fine examples of this sort of “Dual Personality”,
where both opposites of the “Skills Spectrum”, i.e., “Beginners/Experts” can
enjoy Excellent Open Terrain today at Tremblant that’s in very close proximity,
sometimes as illustrated above, on the same Trail.

Below:
Here’s another great example of the “Split Personality” within the conditions
array yesterday at “Last Run”. The picture is taken on Beauchemin Bas, Lower,
below the entrance to the Edge Sector and looking back up to the Peak of the
Edge Sector, including the top of the Edge Quad Chair and the top crest of
Trail # 88, “Action”. Within this shot... are 50 cm’s Powder Snow Drift Lines
way up there, and down below, immediately in front of us, Super-Smooth,
totally Groomed, almost zero Trail Drifted Snow at all, on lower Beauchemin.

Why Aren’t You Showing Us Any Beautiful Summit Panoramas???

Well, that answers that question... but speaking of “Questions???”...

With the huge amount of Snowfall, Snowmaking, Reduced Visibility,
Deep Drifting Snow, and a Changing during the Day Open Trail List...
Tremblant’s Excellent Info. Crews are a most useful resource for
current updates throughout the entire day. Picture above here within
5 metres of the Summit Gondola Off-Load Zone.

When you can’t get Panoramas... Go for Macro!

Here’s what you’re Skiing/Boarding on Today...

This is a Light, Dry, “Cold Formed” Powder Snow with Excellent Crystalline form
that has almost a “Dusty” quality where it has loosely fallen under light winds,
but shows quite good packability where it is wind driven or Groomed.

It has very low forward resistance under Skis, and Excellent edge hold when
carved at any speed. We call it “Cryogenic” Squeaky(when you walk on it),
Cold Snow and in our opinion, it is some of the very best Performance Snow
you may ever experience. Despite the fact that the temp’s are a bit of a challenge
to dress warmly for, especially with the winds... nothing performs quite like this
super-chilled, wicked fast, mega traction, Easy Control, pure Winter Snow, and
that applies to All Skill Levels, From Beginners Up.

Other Conditions Notes: Mountain Crews seem to be in Maintenance, Preservation,
Construction, and Strategic Snow Resources Management Mode as evidenced by an
18 Cm stat snowfall and the Open Trail Count goes down by 2(including Nansen Bas),
from last nights 79(*) "Last Run" Number. We trust them completely, so any moves
like this are for the ultimate benefit of the Ski/Board Trail Quality.

Weather Notes:

Started out at -21 C on the deck thermometer, but supposed to climb
up to -10 C by after lunch.

Overcast, Snowing and very blustery Winds. Of all that, it’s the wind
you need to counteract. Even the smallest of gaps, a 1/16 inch, 1 or 2 mm
gap can cause frostbite when there’s this much wind.

Get all the Gaps sorted out though and it’s surprising how easy it is
to stay comfortable with the warmth of Vigorous exercise!

Somewhat similar to yesterday, when we actually felt some internal warmth
on Wind Sheltered Trail-side breaks.

If You Love “Winter”, You’ll Be Overjoyed With Tremblant Now!

Solidly Established Groomed Base With Abundant Fresh Snowfall Performs
With Excellent Edge Hold And User Friendly Quality For All Skill Levels.

Un-Groomed Experts Only Terrain improving dramatically where drifting
accumulations are greatest, but Windblown Zones may still have Natural
Hazards that require “Line-of-sight” cautious navigation.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
