T360 Apres Ski Edit @ 9:30 P.M.
Nice Day !!!
Conditions remained stable throughout the day for the most part.
There were some wear related slick/icy bits, but considering the
weekend crowd out, that was completely understandable.
Traction was at High Levels to begin with, and they were still at high levels at Last Run.
If you heard any negative comments, they were probably from either
people on Terrain over their Skill Level, or from people that do not have tuned gear.
When there’s any fraction of slick or icy, bringing dull edges to the Mountain is
like bringing a Pea Shooter to a Gun Fight. Sorry, but that’s a fact.
With “Firmness” comes great Speed and today saw speed by the bucket load.
Wise Mountain Users generally seemed to have respect for that and the really quick
in attendance were often found on the outboard trail edges which had the
added advantage of a buildup of soft snow created by the majority all traversing
across the middle and in so doing, pushing quite a bit of loose snow to the sides.
Expo, the Marquis Trail of the Nord, North Side, was Open from Top-to-bottom
with the Big Bump Terrain Park format on the upper half and fully Groomed
on the bottom half. It’s been several seasons(we think) since this unprocessed
upper half has been the Opening mode and it was surprisingly Grippy through
the whole Big Bump Line.
We had “Last Run” off the Expo Quad and the pic below is looking up at Expo’s
mid-point of the Big Bump Upper half with a Friendly Ski Patroller on top of a
Big Bump for Scale reference. Normally, you’d be able to see the Expo Quad
running all the way to the Upper Crest from here, so the fact that the Big Bumps
obscure the view of the Lift, indicates their very large dimension. We would estimate
their height as much as 3.5-->4 Metres, plus or minus, and diameter for some at close to
10 Metres.
The benefit of the Bumps is that all manner of Rock and Debris is now under
a very thick mantle of Snow, so Expo Fans can concentrate on doing great turns
instead of having to apprehensively navigate hazards. Groomed out or not...
this is still a fantastic way to Open Expo and it was a fun workout to be sure.
People are arriving at Tremblant from all over the World now and we think
they’re going to be happy with the scope of the Open Terrain. There is literally
something for everyone right now and whether you are just learning as a Beginner,
or you’re a Pro-Expert, there is both Easy and Challenge in all the Skill Levels of
rated Terrain to suit ambitious Learning Curves or an Easy day of Cruising.
More later if time permits, but if you’re a regional Tremblant Fan planing to attend
tomorrow, you’ve already made the right decision.

87(*) Open Trails on Versant Sud, South, Nord, North, Edge and Soleil.
Use any reason you can think of to Take Off...
And Land Here At Tremblant !!!
Use any reason you can think of to Race Over Here To Tremblant...
Just Find Yourself, Here At Tremblant.
Bottom Line:
Somehow, put yourself somewhere into these pictures for any good reasons you can.
Conditions Notes:
Progressive Page Assembly, but what you really need to know is that
all things considered, Tremblant Mountain Crews have been able to
create maximum utility from both Natural and Blown Snow within
the scope of this Seasons Weather. Generally, Conditions are Very Fine
and there are extensive Sweet Spots of Excellence every single day
that are a Joy to explore for, as well as benefit from all the healthy
aspects of days of vigorous outdoor exercise and Very Fresh Air.
Specifically Referencing Groomed Terrain:
The majority of Groomed Terrain is in very fine condition. Recent and abundant
natural snowfall has added to the pre-existing base, which for the most part has
very good layers of soft, carve-able loose surfaces over a very solid core. There
are some areas where Traffic Concentrations, or Crests, or Steeper Pitches can
have slick or icy bits, so care with reduced speed on initial explorations is essential.
Smoothness is actually very good and we would call the Groomed Terrain for
all Skill Levels is currently “Mogul Resistant”. Moguls can happen of course, but
with the solid base, wear factors are more likely to become apparent as slick or icy.
Obviously, well tuned Skis or Board edges are your best friends whenever Grip
can become limited and the importance of Speed Control, particularly on a busy
weekend day like today with lots of enthusiastic Skiers/Boarders on the slopes,
can not be overstated. With “Busy" in mind, scanning around you before making
directional changes or mid-trail stopping, is also a very wise action because
other nearby speeding traffic may not be able to react quickly, so proactive
awareness on your part can save potential accidents.
Experts Only, Un-Groomed Terrain:
On the Un-Groomed, Natural Hazards are part of the make-up of that terrain
and they can be encountered unpredictably because some of them are not
visible from above. Absolute Speed and Braking Control is even more important
for any initial or subsequent Un-Groomed Experts only Trails. Do not assume
things will be the same from run to run as with traffic the patterns can change
quickly.
Taking some very basic precautions in the Un-Groomed can make for a very fun
and challenging experience that won’t harm you or your gear. All it takes is a little
care and common sense.
Weather Notes:
Days of Amazing Weather Contrasts!

they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
