We’re too lazy to go over to the Resort and measure it at this hour, but between
looking out the window and these Web Cam Snap Shots, we’d say 3 or 4 cm’s, so far,
but... after a mild, borderline Zero Degree C day, ANY NEW SNOW over the existing
base is going to be a huge asset.

Laurentienne was just one sample of the many Big Bump Trail Opening/Development
areas and we would have to say that there’s been a surprisingly Positive Response to
this strategy.
Certainly, the most popular support is coming from the kids and anywhere you
see them on the Big Bumps there are Hoot’s ’n Holler’s of Great Joy that are
Shouted Out and the Woods around these zones echo with the sounds of a
continuous stream of Happy Campers!
The Fun is not restricted to kids either, lots of Adult Skiers/Boarders can be found
in the Big Bumps too, and we must say it is no doubt, very definitely, a “Different”
Ski experience than traditional Skiers are used to.
On the Positive side, the bumps are 98% Pure Snow. No rocks, sticks or solid ice at all.
The unique curvature of each Big Bump contour allows dramatic “Unweighting”, the
technical side of turning, in many cases airborne.
The Big Bumps are not for everyone. Those with Expert Skills will have the most fun
and Speed is absolutely critical entering these areas or while going over the tops of
any of them as too much velocity can instantly turn a Big Bump into a Big Ramp Launch
Upwards with potentially unpredictable landing results.
Eventually, they all get milled flat by a Grooming Machine and with todays Mild,
ever-so-slightly above Zero temps, a lot of that Grooming may take place very soon
as they won’t be nearly so much fun if they’re solid in any way.

Weather Notes:
High Temp this afternoon peeking around +4 C, at South Resort Base Level.
Surfaces will most likely soften, but this is a relatively short thermal event
of only a few hours, so we do not think it will get into anything but the top few
millimetres, and the Skiing should actually be very good with lots of traction.
------------- Mid-Day Weather Update -----------------
It now appears as though the anticipated High temp for today will
be lower @+3C and not occur until 5:00 P.M., after the Mountain is closed.
What this means is that at cooler Mountain Elevations most of the Trail
Network may not see much, if any at all, in the way of thermal influence.
This will be particularly true on the Nord, North Side as it will be in the
Lee(shelter) of the predominantly South and Sou-West winds.
Consequently, we think there will be minimal effects on conditions and
together with Snowfall forecast this eve., things should be just fine for
tomorrow.
