Appreciation is often a matter of perspective. If there is a great abundance of
any given positive situation or circumstance, that ambient presence becomes
the “Normal” and it will generally take that “Normal" perspective within what we
take for granted or expect on an every-day basis.
Not so much this season...
Right across Eastern North America, this season has shown us a less consistent
pattern of quantity in the day-to-day surfaces, so when we hit a string of really
solid "Pure Winter” days together with the extensive quantities of Open Terrain,
we really do have a heightened sense of appreciation for them as a combination,
simply because of their comparative rarity.
This is that time. We have no really accurate way of predicting the future conditions
beyond the immediacy of a current Weather Trending Pattern that may be somewhat
reliable due to the size of the air masses, the shape and flow of the “Jet Stream”,
and the general inclination of the Planet in terms of it’s 4 seasonal evolution. So, when
a “Window” of current opportunity exists for all those factors to line up with a
favourable near-term conditions trend(within the context of Mother Natures
less than average participation so far this season), we consider that to be worthy
of BOTH, the highest appreciation and effort to take of advantage of them while they
are available.
Figuratively Speaking... If all you’ve been fed by Mother Nature is “Kraft Dinner”
and then she starts serving you "Filet Mignon"... Not only do you “Go For It”,
but you savour the experience with all the respect and appreciation that are due
when you understand the significance of the potentially temporary benefits you
are enjoying.
If you are a Regional Tremblant Fan, if you are a serious Regional Ski/Board Fan...
Now is the time you really want to focus on making every reasonable effort possible
to get onto the Slopes at Tremblant and make the very most you can out of what
could be a shorter than usual combination of quality and quantity.
Are things Perfect Out There? No... of course not... “Perfect”
exists in concept only, but generally the Groomed Open Terrain is
very fine due to ongoing daily maintenance cycles that are primarily
refinements over the solid base. However, there are some wind and
traffic wear exposed hazard zones. In the Un-Groomed Experts Only
Terrain, there are Naturally occurring hazards that are variable on a
day-by-day, case-by-case, i.e., Trail-by-Trail basis. Still in all though,
there are 91/96 Open Trails.

To be sure... current technologies in Grooming and Snow Resource Management means
that regardless of the amount of Open Terrain, there will always be Excellent sweet
spots within what-ever Terrain is available, but for those who are looking for that
quality within the widest possible array of quantity, now is the time to make your move.
