96(*) Open Trails on the 100% Available 4 Sides and Slopes of #Tremblant.

"Canaries In The Coal Mine” ... An expression used to highlight a single “Tell-Tale”
factor that indicates the health of an environment.(**)

Tremblant “Canaries”...
Two Nord, North Summit Sector Trails that are like those Canaries in the Coal Mine
except here, they’re Canaries on the Ski Slopes that are indicative of general
quality levels in the Open Terrain.

Yesterday’s Grooming Icons included Versant Nord, North Side Summit Sector
Trails # 65 Bansai, and #64 Marie Claude Asselin(MCA), for the first time this Season.

Their Opening, way back when, was one of the first Healthy Seasonal
Indicator signs...

Their Grooming now is one of the ultimate Seasonal indicators of Healthy
Mountain Conditions because Grooming them is completely dependant
on their only Snow source, Natural Snowfall.

Over the seasons we have written about this as it is a major benchmark in the
fullness of what we refer to as the Maturity of Seasonal Conditions. In that sense,
as a singular and very positive indicator of the Health of the Alpine Snow Sports
Environment, these “Canaries In the Coal Mine” are robustly healthy and singing
the very sweetest of songs about very, very fine Skiing/Boarding.

Otherwise...

It got a fair bit cooler than forecast last night, down to -25 C, that’s 13 below Zero
degrees F., for our American Cousins up visiting for President’s Week Holiday. We’re
very pleased with that because the cryogenic, super-cool freeze-drying that the new
snow was exposed to last night should have seen a major benefit in reduced humidity
resulting in a dryer, lighter crystalline structure that Grooms very well and has an
extremely low forward resistance level under Skis or Boards for all Skill Levels of Open,
Groomed Terrain.

Specifically, last nights Grooming schedule should have rendered out some
really superb satin smooth surfaces that will carve with absolute reliability
at the highest levels of performance. That means today will be Fast and it
will be very easy to execute control inputs regardless if you’re a Beginner
mastering the Pie-shaped wedge form known as the “Snowplow” on
P’tit Bonheur, or if you’re an Expert working hard carving Edges
on Taschereau.

This is Day 2 of the Post-Blizzard timeframe so while grooming has had
another overnight cycle, there will still be considerable softness and
the consequent traffic generated mogul formation that can show increase
during the length of Open Hours.

In that regard, it is vitally important that Tremblant Guests choose Terrain
that is appropriate for their actual Skill Level. If there are any Superseding
hand-posted warnings, restrictions or difficulty notices... Pay Attention!

On the Un-groomed Experts Only Terrain, any heaviness that may have
been evident should now be lighter and fluffier with a more truly Powder
characteristic for super-low resistance Off-Piste explorations.

From the standpoint of all today's very positive conditions factors added up,
we could have one of the very best days of the Season that should extend to
tomorrow as well.

Weather Notes:

Sunny, daytime high at South Resort Base Level around -8 C by mid-afternoon
with moderate Westerly winds. The Summit should warm up to about -12 C or so,
but the breezes will make it seem cooler as they move across Tremblant’s peak from
Taschereau towards the Lowell Thomas triple chair off-load zone. As usual, the
wind could have decidedly more gusty tendencies at the Summit, compared to
mid or low Mountain levels.

There will be detectable Solar Energy in any safe wind sheltered Trail-side
rest spots as the sun is high enough in the sky to generate direct radiant heat
regardless of ambient temp’s in no-wind locations.

Conditions Notes:

100% Fully Open With some of the Ultimate Indicators of Excellent, Mature,
Seasonal Conditions.

If you can Go, do it now and enjoy them while they last.

(**)Based on the historic use/monitoring of the small birds known as Canaries
caged in Coal Mining during the early Industrial Age because their sensitivity to
poisonous air contamination is far greater than Humans. As long as the Birds
were alive, Miners knew the air quality was acceptable for Humans. If the Birds
died, the Miners knew they had to evacuate the mine before Human Levels of
toxicity in air quality were reached.
