------------------ 8:27 A.M. Orig. Post --------------------

76(*) Open Trails on the Slopes of #Tremblant.

One Of Yesterday’s Major, Major, Big, Big Stories, Leading Into Today...

Bravo Tremblant Mountain Crews!

Mountain Crews Did A Superb Job Of Rendering Virtually The Entire Open Terrain Flat.
63 out 63 Open Trails Showed “Groomed” and we are so thankful they did that!

Under the circumstances... i.e., a 25 Degree C drop in temp’s from Thursday's +5,
we think that was the most ideal thing they could have ever done because “Icy Bits”
are 1000% easier for all Skill Levels to handle when they are Flat. Lumps, Bumps,
and irregular surfaces are almost never fun when froze solid, and producing such
vast areas of totally smooth flatness, in addition to the 10cm’s of windblown natural
snow, made all of the Open Terrain far, far easier to navigate for all Skill Levels...

PLUS.... as usual... there are ALWAYS Sweet Spots... As a matter of fact, in yesterday’s
case, Lot’s of Sweet Spots, like this one pictured below on Versant Nord, the North Side
Beauchemin Bas, Lower, just below the Lowell Thomas Triple Base Sector.

Sweet Spot Case Study...
Versant Nord, North Side, Beauchemin Bas, Lower.

There have been several instances of “Post Thermal Event”, very quick and fine
surface quality recoveries on this Trail this season. For some unidentified and
completely anecdotal experience based reasoning, we think it’s a pattern beyond
just coincidence, but never-the-less, Beauchemin Bas has clearly demonstrated
very high surface quality even when Mother Nature has made things generally icy
in a lot of other places.

While the depth of the loose top layers was comparatively shallow due to the
overnight solidified base, there was definitely enough to Carve at a High
Performance Level if you had the sharpness in edges to grip. One of the
most impressive aspects was the fineness of the snow particle size.
Pictured here below, you can see the fine granular and grippy characteristics
of the combined Grooming Machine generated and Natural snow.

With it’s wide, accommodating dimensions, and when the Traffic is light,
Beauchemin has loads of room to safely build a bit of speed for practicing
steeper angles of leg inclination for more “Enthusiastic” Carving.

This is only one example.... There were Dozens and Dozens, Hundreds, Whole Big Bunches
Many, Many, Many, Entire Sectors, Complete Trails, Loads and Loads.... of “Sweet Spots”.
All you had to do was tour around initially with a responsible and cautious speed
appropriate for safe and complete control, and just as we did, you would have
found a surprising majority of very fine snow surfaces on all 4 corners of Tremblant’s
footprint.

If you heard complaints that “There was Ice Everywhere” you know you were
talking to someone who has not had their gear tuned in any recent memory,
and/or... someone who was on Terrain way over their actual Skill Level, say
an Intermediate criticizing an Expert Trail they went winging down out of control on.

If you were on Terrain that is appropriate for your realistic and appropriate Skill Level...
and you have Gear that is reasonably within Tune... you would have had a very fine day.
Period.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
