T360 Midnight Apres Ski Edit In Progress @ 12:00 A.M.
If there was such a thing as a Dictionary Definition for “Spring Skiing”,
today at Tremblant may well have one of the finest examples, coming
close to "Ideal” in a number of important ways.
Above... Sissy Schuss remained largely Flat all day. There were some
traffic created moguls, however to Intermediates they should not have
presented any serious difficulties.
Pleasant, Easy Temps.
Not too hot... Not too Cold...
Excellent Initial Grooming quality,
gradually longer daylight savings for improved
contrast and vision, Super, Swift, Sweet Spring Snow...
What’s not to like??? In many cases the afternoon softening
actually facilitated more forgiving Trail surfaces and it seemed
Steeper Terrain choices felt, in many instances, “easy” with
the naturally occurring braking that the higher moisture levels created.
We were involved with a group training exercise on Versant Nord, so we do
not have direct South experience today, but all the feedback we heard about
the South from reliable sources, tells us that it was basically the same but with
a moderately greater rate of softening due to it’s more direct facing orientation
to the Afternoon Sun.
The North Also Had One Specific Operational Advantage Today...
Shade. The North Side trails get afternoon Shade which keeps them really fast
on the shady side. In some cases, that shaded side may well have been
unaffected ALL DAY, especially where the trees could provide a super tall,
natural Sun Break that kept the Surfaces from any significant thaw at all.

A Classic Tremblant Early Spring Skiing Day Forecast:
An early start for us due to other commitments for today so the
Open Trail number has yet to be published.
UPDATE AT 5:39 A.M. to 73(*) Open Trails
With a very positive return to a seasonally typical overnight Sub-Zero, today should
see a continued firmness in the Base that should have a finer Groomed Snow particle
size and may also feature slightly deeper initial top layers of loose shred-able Snow.
These Overnight Sub-Zero’s are the best possible scenario for maintaining coverage
and quality as time moves forward at mid-March.
Of course it almost goes without saying, but just in case you are reading here
for the first time in a while... or ever... After 3 days of Well Softened Spring Snow
exposed to two Overnight Sub-Zero’s... Tuned Edges Are Your Best Friends!
All Tremblant Guests Benefit In The Performance Characteristics
of a Firm Base that supports Traffic with a flatter, more mogul
resistant durability that spans farther over the Open Hours of
each day.
