Unless you were at Tremblant to experience the combination of Winter Ski/Board
Performance and the Spectacular, Natural, Winter Scenic Vistas, you might not believe
that any date in April could ever produce such a unique blend.

The Base is so smooth and so seamless and the top, loose, skiable layers are so
consistent that it is possible to execute 100%, linked, carve-turn tracks from
Summit To Base on every major descent path you can choose from on the
Official Open, Groomed Trail List.

This pic. below, overlooking the Summit Sector of Alpine/Beauvallon is just the beginning
of serious fun.

Descending down Alpine making large “GS” style turns, it came to our attention that
the shared Groomer Machine Ridge right down the middle along the Snowmaking
Line, was in itself a beautifully contoured Launch Ramp for very cool airborne
turns between Alpine and Beauvallon.

Naturally, we would never use such a descent line unless there was No One around
and today was so light for traffic that you could stand trail-side, sometimes for a few
minutes at a time without a single soul passing. We actually waited for a while
hoping to get some “Action” shots, but with no passing traffic, it was evidently
a great time for Air Turns on Alpine/Beauvallon.

The Icy substrates that have been underlaying some of the South, Sun facing
surfaces over recent days has been reduced to a large extent.

“Icy” feedback of a couple of days ago on Versant Soleil’s Toboggan, is completely
a thing of the past. Today, Toboggan was(with recent tuned edges) a total
Ski-Roller-Coaster Joy!

Any Serious, Experienced, Dedicated Skier of any Skill Level is instantly
going to recognize the significance of the above pic. when we say that it
is an appropriate summary of virtually every square inch of Tremblant’s
Open, Groomed Terrain yesterday and as far as we know, today as well.

If anything, the Tremblant Mountain Op’s Nightshift of Grooming as noted below
by the Groomed Icons displayed on the Official Trail Data, will have raised the
bar another notch upward with the refinement that every Grooming cycle
adds when the Temp’s remain Sub-Zero around the clock.

The most impressive aspect of these conditions to us is the fact that within
18 hours of a “Thermal Event”, the combination of Mother natures Rapid
Temperature Drop and Mountain Grooming Crews could render out such
Spectacular Winter Snow.

All three Pic’s above/below, were shot on Versant Sud, the South Side’s Trail, "Erik Guay”
and the snow surface sample you see above looks like Dry, Fine, Pure Winter Snow
because it is. It is also the Snow that is common to all the Groomed Terrain that
was exposed to yesterday mornings Mountain Elevations Low Temp at just around -20C.

We talk about “Cryogenic”, i.e., “Super Cold" Snow exposure as being a significant
factor in the creation of Excellent Surface Conditions when combined with Grooming
and every single Tremblant Guest in attendance now is getting all the performance
benefits of that in a most impressive way for any April 5th. on record.

For The Examples Of April 5th, Year-Over-Year Comparisons...

We have had similar End-Of-Season conditions, coincidentally Last Year, but for different
reasons. Last Year it was the overwhelming influence of a record setting number of
consecutive Sub-Zero days that was part of Eastern North America’s Coldest
Sustained Winter Temp’s ever recorded(the Year of the “Polar Vortex”). Even though
Last Winter only had 382 CM’s of Snow Base compared to 471 CM’s Today, the
uninterrupted Cold kept virtually all of it intact. This season, with numerous and
far more normal “Thermal Events” the saving grace of the Season was 3 Blizzards
and 2 Snow Storms that dumped nearly 220 CM’s, 2.2 Metres or almost 7 1/4 Feet
of Snow on Tremblant in about an 18 day stretch around the beginning of March.

In this comparative example, we have very similar outcomes, the Excellence of
Ambient April Conditions, but for totally different reasons.

We’ll happily take it either way, but one of the most important points to take away
is the very positive fact that while a lot of the Eastern Skiing this winter has been
compromised by Warm temp’s to South of us, Tremblant’s Northerly Latitude
has been a huge asset in both generating and retaining a magnificent Natural
Snow Base for this date.

Get Real Clause: It’s April, there has been warm weather including rain in the past
so there have been some Seasonally Naturally Occurring Hazards that were, and
can be found even now including, but not limited to, Icy Substrates. They are
small in comparison to the overall very high wall-to-wall Trail Coverage quality
which is way above historic, statistical averages for this time period.

Initial Explorations should always be undertaken with cautious reduced speed to
verify safe passage, and you may not assume things will be identical on any future
Trail Descent Repeats.

Weather Notes:

-5 C, under Brilliant, Sunny Sky. Moderate Nor-West Winds, so coming
up the Mountain over Beauvallon and crossing towards Duncan.
Could be gusty at times, but generally a very easy Winter day!

Based on changes to the 7 Day Forecast Models that were previously showing
Lower Mid-Week Temps, the revised warmer trend now forecast indicates
that Tomorrow, Wed. April 6th might be a last Snowy Winter Day for this
pattern we’re enjoying now. +6 C, Snowy/Light Rainy Mix Now Forecast for Thursday.

they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
