Temp’s were thankfully Lower today and what we were looking for was relief
from the stickiness of the damp new snow from yesterday. There was less stickiness,
but we were a bit surprised to find as much as we did and we’re not sure exactly
why. At first we thought it might have been just us, i.e., wrong base wax?, but
people were commenting on it during Chair Lift rides up, so evidently, while less
of a factor than yesterday, it was still there to a lesser degree. At first we thought
it was just the temp’s, but it is cool enough to support speed, so now we’re wondering
if its either some atmospheric condition and/or something to do with the shape of
the Snowflakes. With temps falling further tonight(Friday), we still expect a lot easier
Speed to return for tomorrow.

Snowfall Benefits All Open #Tremblant Terrain!

The additional falling snow today seemed to be evenly distributed around Tremblant’s
footprint and it’s really quite amazing to see so much snow in the bush for April 8th.

Looking around almost anywhere on the Mountain, you can easily see that the Snow
has been falling and blowing for over a day now as things are getting pretty well
coated with snow that only builds up this way after hours and hours.

Last nights Grooming Shift went a long way to very effectively compacting all
the tracked up thickness and in that regard there was a substantial in smoothness
across all the Groomed Open Terrain. Versant Soleil “Toboggan” may have been
within the top 5 days of the whole season.

There was a great improvement in many Trails, however, the smoothness we found
in freshly groomed Lowell Thomas Bas, Lower, was dramatic after the icy substates
that have been here for the past several days. We like this Trail portion as one
component in a descent path using Andy Moe--> Axle--> Lowell T. Bas-->
Gagnon--> Sissy Schuss Haut--> Fuddle Duddle Bas--> to Either the Expo or Duncan Quads.

South Base, Resort Level, should reach Minus 11 C, so the cooler Summit may see
-15 or -16, and that, together with Grooming tonight should put everything nicely
back to “Winter” in speed and feel for tomorrow.

Throw in some “Sunshine” and you’ve got a Classic, Full Winter Tremblant day in April!

At The Risk Of Repeating Ourselves with 3 POV’s over
24 Hours at this same location...
Here is the Third 4.7.16 Proof Of Snow POV because it represents the Fundamental
Component of the Excellence In Surface Coverage At Tremblant.... right now.

This is the largest single positive factor supporting your decision to Ski/Board Tremblant
either this Weekend or Next Weekend, because after that... you will not be able
to Ski/Board Tremblant again until next November....

The 122 cm’s/48 inch Ski Pole is pushed vertically straight into the ambient Snowpack
here and the top of the handle is 4 or 5 cm’s BELOW the Snow Surface.
The 165cm's Skis and the other pole are there simply for scale reference.

That’s 1.25 Metres, or Over 4 Feet of Bush/Trail Side Snow! ...April 8th ???

It Is Not Like This Everywhere, But The Open, Groomed, Base is All Of This And
More in many places, and way above and beyond what would be needed for BOTH
Coverage and Quality for this and next weekend, the final days of the Season.

Yesterdays conditions were very challenging. The Moisture level in the Snowfall
was very high and consequently it was very physically heavy and so thick and
sticky that forward motion was awkward at times.

Steeper pitches had more gravity assist, but they were also chopped up with
tracks and rapid development moguls, so with very low contrast Cloud-Fog
Slow was the only safe speed.

Due to the Overnight temps being so close to Zero C, we’re not exactly sure how
Conditions are going to be... but the fact that there are 44 Groomed Trails on the
Official Trail List is a very big step in positive expectations.

“Smooth” Always Wins in a default way, compared to the random irregularities
that a day’s Traffic can generate, so we’re very excited to get out and see all that
plus, how Mother Natures "Wild Cards" fell into place today.

Bottom Line on Conditions Potential...
(other than the virtually All-Day, Every-Day Goto Reliability of “Greens”,
Nansen and P’tit Bonheur...)

"Too Many Wild Cards, Anything Possible" Clause.

Allowing to That... Caution and Reduced Speed on All Explorations Is Essential
until you can Verify Safe Passage. Do Not Assume Anything From Run-to-run.
Allow greatly increased Navigational Space around others and Scan, Scan, Scan,
for traffic or individuals moving unpredictably.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
