You’re going to need to get the best, the latest, the most accurate...
Trail, Lift, Conditions info.possible...

Here’s the best way to do that...

Tremblant’s Super Friendly, Super Knowledgable “Info.Ski” Crews
are out in full force and have all the latest Trail Status by Radio
Control, so you can rely on having the newest Info. as soon
and as often as you get to the Summit.

When you’re interested in how the day went...
what conditions were really like, and what’s going on...

Here’s one way to do that:

It was indeed a very Snowy Day and our T360 Apres Ski,
is posted below as “Reply”(under construction at 9:30 P.M.),
and will have the essential detail.

------------------ 8:58 A.M. Orig. Post ---------------------

5(*) Open Trails on the White Winter Snow Covered Slopes of #Tremblant.

Here’s a Sample of what we did Opening Day...

It was Fun To Go Fast At Tremblant yesterday, and today will be a repeat.

New Open Terrain: Beauchemin Haut, Upper.

The addition of Beauchemin Haut is only 1 Trail on the Stat’s page, but..
it is a HUGE expansion of the open acreage because of its length and width.

Yesterdays covered acreage number was 14, today’s covered acreage is 52.
We are not sure about the exact width of finished Trail surface on Beauchemin
yet, but never-the-less, it does reflect a very big commitment to resources
to produce such a large finished surface area.

A very tangible benefit to that is the reduction of Skier/Board Traffic density
as everyone gets to spread out over a much larger space. Fun and Safety
should be enhanced for all skill levels. Arguably, one of the biggest benefits
will be to Beginners as P’tit Bonheur will be spared some of the Bump-forming
High Performace Ski/Board traffic, and consequently there should be less in the
way of mogul/bump formations.

The Overnight Snowfall has been periodic. It is a very light, dry, dust-like
snow and accumulation is +/- a CM or 2, but it will contribute to good cushion,
fair speed, and enhanced integration with the somewhat chunky nature of initial
trail openings that have solid elements broken up in the first grooming cycles.

While there are not much in the way of long, panoramic vistas to shoot,
the close-hand scenery is spectacular Black/White Winter owing to the very
fine natural snow particle size that is effectively bonding to everything it
contacts.

out for First Tracks this Opening.

Lessons are going on in obvious large numbers and we can’t think
of a better place to start than right here.

Beginners and Intermediates need to know that those who learn well at Tremblant,
can Ski/Board well anywhere in the World.

Mum’s and Dad’s need to know that when Little Johnny or Little Jill learn here
at Tremblant, you can take them anywhere, and they’ll be at the head of their
class where-ever you go.

The exceptional Technical Merit of Tremblant as a learning environment,
combined with the High Standards of Ski/Board teaching here will make
you a better Skier, a better Boarder, skills you can take with you from this
point forward.

Where Are You From? :

Kansas City, Missouri... Boston, Halifax, Scranton, PA, Belleville, Ontario,
Puerto Rico, Trenton, New Jersey... just samples of Chairlift anecdotes from yesterday.

As usual... Tremblant attracts keen Winter Alpine Snow Sports Fans
from many far-away places, but there are many, many Americans
up for a Snowy Tremblant Thanksgiving Holiday and we wish you all
a very Happy Thanksgiving!

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

The only people in a rush today were the Team Training Racers...
Everyone else was taking it easy with the reduced visibility and
the accumulating thickness of More Natural Snowfall.

Despite the expansion of Open Terrain today to include Beauchemin Haut,
based on nothing other than Observation... we’d say there was a fair bit larger
crowd out today.

That traffic was visible on almost any slope, but the lift lines were short, we
did not see anything more than about 3 minutes like you can see below.
For the most part, lift lines were 30 seconds or less.

Todays New Beauchemin Open Terrain had the access path that goes across
it’s top portion, and traverses over to P’tit Bonheur. It had the advantage of
being sheltered from the wind, but there were icy bits on the way down from
the Summit and it’s not quite at its maximum width, so caution is necessary
to navigate safely.

Beauchemin itself has posted hazard zones and we can tell you by a few marks
in Ski Bases today, those cautions were legitimate.

The Hazard zones are clearly shown.

(**)Caution here is mandatory if you don’t want base damage. With Slow Speed
and utilizing trail sides/edges, the vast number of those glitches can be
completely avoided though, so an initial slow exploration will show you the
path that can be taken on your second run here with less worry.

((**) Note Of Historical Perspective: Years ago, this run might have had these
kinds of hazards either ’til mid-to-late January, or maybe even off/on, all season.
So, to open like this, as good as this... is still a HUGE undertaking and we need
to remind ourselves just how lucky we are to have this level of refinement on day 1.
This is not February... we don’t have 150 cm’s of Base... so use your head
in ALL Newly Opened Terrain, and pray for more Snow!)

A Great Day For Race Training.

Over on Beauvallon/Alpine, similar to yesterday, there was good carving as
long as you were not too aggressive with edges. There were some icy
substrates lurking under the new coat of snow. Hit one at high speed...
and you could instantly get ejected trail-side.

This Quebec Acro Ski Club had Fall-Line Parallel Turns on the Learning
agenda today. Good thing they were so focused on technique fundamentals,
their Short-Radius-Parallel-Turning was one of the very best ways to handle
the unpredictable surface variations with all the adjustments that a well centred,
compact stance can make possible.
