The Skiing Was Excellent, of course only a few runs, but those few in
really good condition, considering the weather.

More later if possible, but Tremblant’s solid head start this season is
still all there, on the trails anyway, and Winter’s coming back in less than
48 Hours from now.

Preview/Draft Weather Graphic’s for tomorrow morning:

We are not sure how the forecasted rain tonight is going to effect things exactly
for tomorrow as the intensity and duration over the Mountain can not be accurately
determined yet. The Forecast Icons were increased over recent hours, so there’s
nothing other than time will tell....

5(*) Open Trails on the wee bit damp slopes of #Tremblant.

Whatever dampness there may be should have nothing to do with
Skiable, Boardable conditions in our opinion because basically,
it’s “Spring” Skiing, with all it’s characteristic traction, for a couple of days.

The advantage today may have is that it’s warm enough for softening
to cover all the Open Terrain instead of only the bottom half of Beauvallon
as we had yesterday.

This below is a very grainy, cooked up, burned-up, super-contrasted and
mega-highlighted Pic.file that was salvaged from yesterdays “Wet Lens Syndrome”
photography(ultimately, we lost camera function as water got into the
control systems and it went into failsafe mode).
Look closely at the snow surfaces and hopefully you can see the carved
tracks that are the repeated passes we made shredding up this super-sweet
sector du jour.

This illustrates two major points we like to make...

1) In over 40 some-odd Tremblant Seasons, we’ve never let Rainy days
keep us from Skiing. If it’s “Open” , we’re on it, which takes us to the main point...

2) In over 40 some-odd Tremblant Seasons, on those occasional “Damp” days,
we have NEVER failed to find a “Sweet Spot(s)” somewhere within the Open
terrain. Yesterday was no exception and the lower portion of Open Beauvallon,
down to the TGV base, was thrilling technical carving with all the muscle burning
intensity you could generate.

At the same time, because of its even, soft, surface smoothness over the lower
portion of the descent, it was also an learners super-easy zone. The forgiveness
in the soft, mogul-free trail surface was no problem to make control inputs on.

Instructors had lessons out on P’tit Bonheur yesterday, but it was an
exercise in “Technical” Skiing due to the freezing rain topcoat.
Never-the-less, very good learning, even for Beginners, because
edge control learned in more demanding circumstances will make
the good conditions that this trail has the other 99%, seem very easy.

Once again, similar to Beauvallon, the lower portion of this trail became slightly soft
but it did not achieve the same depth of softness, so higher speeds were not safely
possible without the depth to grip into... advantage, Beauvallon.

Oh well, it’s still very early season and some of these little thermal blips are
to be expected within normal Fall daily temp. cycles.

We’ve actually been kind of spoiled this seasons Opening with so much natural
snow on the Mountain and in the base, so we are most thankful and appreciative
for all the great Skiing we’ve had so far.

Weather Notes:

Partially Sunny((?)looks permacast out the window), but Mild with
possible high temp at Sud, South Base level at up to +5 C, so at Mountain
elevations +1 C or so. Enough to create overall softness in all probability.
Winds are forecast to be light to moderate Easterly, so gently moving up
P’tit Bonheur and moving over the Summit from the Lowell Thomas side
towards Soleil.

There is light rain forecasted for later, but not ‘till around 4 or 5 P.M., hopefully Apres Ski.

We do not think this entirely normal temp rise over the next day or so will
have any great effect on the existing base. This base is very well established
and we think it will simply shed off any atmospheric wet. It may well require
a day or two of rendering with overnight Grooming cycles, but as we approach
the first of December, we think the Mountain is in great shape for accelerating
rapid terrain expansion when the temps drop back down.

Speaking of “When Temps Drop Back Down”...

Close to perfect Snowmaking conditions starting from Saturday onward,
so we think you’ll see tremendous efforts by Mountain Crews to rapidly fill the
major/popular sectors, particularly during next week as preparations ramp up for
the 24 Hour Children’s Charity Fundraiser.

But the main reason for including this one above is to monitor the thermal
effects at the Summit as registered by the uninsulated snow in the trees.
The interesting part will be the “After” pic we hope to have in Apres Ski.

Spring-like Skiing for a day or two is even more fun when there’s no crowd!

Surface smoothness and all-day mogul-free flatness are very durable just
because there’s only a very small group of enthusiasts out. So, for those
who are here, and totally typical of all early-season mid-week days, it could
actually be a very fine training day.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
