T360 Not Yet Apres Ski Intro. @ 11:30 P.M., Hour 11.5 of the 24 Hour Children’s
Charity Fundraising Ski Marathon.
This Picture Captures Maybe 15--> 20% Of The Etherial Quality Of This View.
It Is Unlikely Any Camera Could Come Close.
It’s -16 C at the Sud, South Resort Base. The air is very cool, and very crisp.
It’s so crisp it makes your nose tingle every time you take a breath...
And ‘round and ‘round they go...
Fortunately, there’s not hardly even a whisper of a wind...
That is unless... you just happen to be winging down the Mountain at 50 KMPH,
in which case, you’ve got “Headwind” and we can tell ya for a fact...
50 KMPH of Airspeed @-16C is enough to put a wee bit of “Chill” into your evening...
The Course continues on from the Summit for the entire event.
---------------------- 7:49 A.M. Update --------------------
19(*) Open Trails on the 24 Hour Children’s Charity Marathon Fundraiser Slopes
of #Tremblant.
In order to get a head start on things during the middle of the night,
we theorized there could be as many as 26 Open trails, so, out of that
possibility there are actually 19. We included some that are under
development, and we still feel confident that those ones that are
still being worked on should be very close to inclusion, maybe some
tomorrow? Time will tell, but for today, here’s the Archived copy of the
Official data.
(Please Note: In the Orig. Post below we wrote:
"We Could Be Wrong on any of them. The possibilities are “Up To”, so the
reality could be anywhere between Friday’s 13 and our theoretical 26."
In that regard, if you do the math... “between” 13 and 26 is 19.5
so not too far off.)
At least we were right on the Expo Quad Opening with Gagnon that in today’s case may
simply be to facilitate more Nord, North Side Up-Hill Lift capacity for the Public that
will be on this side in larger numbers due to the 24Hr Sud, South Side restrictions.
Regardless, this is another very important Sector Opening and though it will be a while
before the trails in this area are developed, it’s a start non-the-less, and... with all
the Natural Snow forecast over the next 2 weeks, this Nord, North Side zone can often
see favourable drift-in with more than it’s fair share, so there’s great potential for “Soon”.
We still think Duncan Bas, Lower, may possibly be the first new Terrain to be opened
“soon”, because of the length of time there’s been Snowmaking there. Currently,
as indicated by the Official data, the only descent off the Expo Quad is Gagnon
to the Up-Load Base of the Lowell Thomas Triple Chair and Beauchemin Bas,lower.
It would not surprise us to see Snowmaking Icons appear on Sissy Schuss “soon”,
due to the value of that trail to all Skill Levels, but particularly as an outstanding
Teaching/Learning/Practice environment.
Also, we can’t ignore the possibility that any or all of the Trail development work
is intended for a buildup to the busy Christmas Holiday period that is only 2 weeks
from now.

Grooming, Snowmaking, Lift Status and Mountain Conditions

If you can’t be here today, you can still do your part by donating to this
most worthy cause. We have included a link in the Orig. Post below that will
take you directly to the Official 24 Hr Children’s Charity Fundraiser Website
and we encourage all Tremblant Ski/Board Fans to donate.
For those planning to get out for a day on the slopes for tomorrow, there is
some probability that there may be Ski-out to Sud, South Base, sometime
in the afternoon, once the 24 Hr Event is concluded at Noon. Course Workers
usually start dismantling the barriers fairly soon after it finishes, but that all
may be dependant on the safety condition of that lower Sud, South Side
Terrain, post-event. So, while it has happened in the past and would certainly
be nice, we do not take it for granted. Safety First.

24 Hour Children’s Charity Marathon Event Day.
Event commences at Noon.
Subject To Morning Confirmations:
We think there could be up to as many as approximately 26(*) Trails In Use
over the course of the weekend.
Please Note: A) We are starting very early this morning, well before any
Official Data is published for the day, because we have numerous commitments
throughout the daylight hours. B) We are making an “Educated Guess” on the
“Trails In Use” instead of “Open Trails”, because there are Trails dedicated to the
24 Hour Children’s Charity that army be “In Use”, but not Publicly “Open”, at least
until the event has concluded. There are many Trails that have been on the
Snowmaking List this week that are typically available for regular people who are
not connected with event as compensation for the Terrain that is going to be closed
for the Course.
We are annotating/circling the Trails we think are most likely to be “In Use”, in purple,
on a duplicate of the Friday Archived Data as “Potential” Only.
They include both previously Open Trails and Trails that have been earmarked
“Snowmaking” for up to several days Some of them are Trails that have been
brought on-line in previous Seasons for this event.
We Could Be Wrong on any of them. The possibilities are “Up To”, so the reality
could be anywhere between Friday’s 13 and our theoretical 26.
We also wonder if the Night-Time course may be different
than the Daytime Course due to Snowmaking off the
Flying Mile Sector.
We will attempt to update ASAP., tomorrow morning.
Utility Notes:
Saturday And Sunday Are extremely busy days with unusual circumstances
for the Public due the dedicated 24Hr. Event Terrain.
If you are member of the Ski/Board Public, not involved with the Event,
you will want to consult with Mountain Info. Ski Crews regarding ANY Questions
you may have about Open Terrain Or how to get to Open Terrain.
This is a File Shot of Info. Crews with their distinctive Yellow “?” uniforms.
Consult with them... Anytime You Have A Question, but especially this weekend!
Work has been going on all week and after there lifts closed on Friday, Mountain Crews
went into High Gear for the Finishing detail.
All the Sud, South, Base, Resort Start/Finish zone has been set up
and appears to be complete, waiting only now for Event Traffic. Tomorrow
at this time there should be steady lapping visible as participants will be
more than half way through the 24 Hours.
Up at the Summit, we see two important factors... 1) The temp @ -14 C
should produce some Very Fine Snow Surfaces. A good shot of “Cool”
often results in dry, fast surfaces. 2) The big Turbo Snowmaking machine
we can see lighted at the top of Duncan. This helps build confidence that
Duncan may be an “Open” Trail tomorrow, however that is not certain
and may not occur.
More in the morning, as soon as we can...
