12/27/16 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Midnight Apres Ski Edit.
Open Trails Status Reduced From 77(*) to 50(*) Due To Weather Factors.

Last night we ran this below attached annotated Weather Graphic.

Look At The Bottom Line.

We should have put it back in this morning, but, encouraged by the 77(*) Open Trails
we were hoping for an optimistic outcome and felt it might have been un-necessary.
Evidently, Mother Nature Had Other Plans...

Then, in another moment of insightful clarity, we go on to say...

“Tomorrow’s A New Day!"

We’re not sure quite where the Open Trail number will be for the morning,
but one thing we’re very sure of is that whatever Crews have Open, will
be of substantially higher surface quality and performance with an All-Nighter
Grooming Shift.

-------------- 6:29 A.M. Orig. Post ----------------

77(*) Open Trails on Versant Sud, South, Nord, North and Soleil Sectors at #Tremblant.
Please Note: There are a significant number of “Progressive” Opening
Trails(roughly 45(*)) as indicated by the clock-face Icons on the below
attached Archive Copy of the Official Snow Report. These Trails require
Ski Patrol and/or Mountain Op’s Certifications prior to full Opening, but
are expected during the course of the day.

Excellent 6:29 A.M., Early Morning News.

Gondola Cars that were dismounted from the main cable and stored
inside overnight to prevent Freezing Rain Ice Build-up are being Re-Deployed
as this is written.

In this first Snap Shot, you can see the Gondola Cars being taken out
of the Base Station Shop/Storage area to the right side of the Base Building.
There are no cars on the Up-Hill side of the Cable yet.

This is indeed Excellent Early Morning News for all Tremblant Fans
in attendance this morning! Any concerns about the effects of last
nights Freezing Rain are set aside when we see these wonderful Web
Cam Snap Shots as Mountain Crews re-attach Gondola Cars to the Main Cable.

In this second Zoom-in Snap Shot, as more cars are added onto the cable,
they begin to load them onto the Up-hill side.

It may take a little while to sort through all the Logistics this morning, so Tremblant
Guests should be patient while Crews do their jobs. No One can recover more quickly
from Natural Weather glitches than Tremblant Mountain Crews, so take a deep breath
and relax while recovery and re-deployment tasks are completed.

There should be Multiple Sweet Spots within the Groomed Open Terrain, however...
It’s going to take a day or two to restore more overall consistency in Surface quality.
Obviously no surprise after this type of Weather Event. One very favourable contribution
to the restoration process is all the Natural Snowfall forecast over the next 10 days
along with the simultaneous Sub-Zero stability in the Temps., so we can actually
look forward to not only a quick recovery, but an escalation in surface quality
that should be above and beyond what we had before, just because of the additional
base depth all the new snow is going to increase.

Freezing Rain is not an overall negative, simply because it is not erosive to surfaces
like outright rain is. Coating Trial surfaces only needs to be broken up, ground up,
and mixed in. Traffic and New Snow usually blends it all in after a short period, so
the biggest problem the way we see it right now is the temporary inconvenience.
It could have been a lot worse.

For Sure... today will no doubt have some knarly bits of roughness, but equally no
doubt, there should be some sweet spots too. At least it’s not super cold, so being
outside today, it may be the wind that's more challenging at times than the surface
conditions are.

----------- Early Morning Update: -----------------

This Summit Web Cam Snap Shot shows 2 important aspects of the Post-Weather
Event, in-so-far as the -2C, return to Sub-Zero displayed on the Summit Lift Status
Board and the use of Day-time Grooming Operations which is unusual at any time
other than times like today with last night’s Freezing Rain.

-------------- Conditions Caveat(s) ------------------

The Mountain has just come through a Freezing Rain event of short duration.
There are as-yet undetermined effects on the Open Trail Network that may
include Icy Sectors, Course Particle Size Surfaces, un-tracked icy surface coating,
thickness, and variable degrees of difficulty in executing control movements
over slick or uneven surfaces.

Use reduced Speed and Extra Passing Space Margins At All Times.

It Is Critically Important To Match Your Actual, Realistic, Skill Level
to Posted Trail Signage Today. Conditions may not be Forgiving.

Unusual Conditions Like Today can cause the Ski Patrol To Hand Post User Warnings
that Supersede All Other Signage. Pay Extra Attention To Had Posted Signage and
Adhere to those specific instructions.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
