Today sees not only a rapid recovery expansion in the Open Trail Numbers, but
the Incremental Improvements in Shred Depth in Top Surface Layers and the
Reduction of Icy or Solid feeling in the Base that comes with every Overnight
Grooming Cycle following a Warm-To-Cold Normal, Seasonal, Temp Swing.

Today may see a “Dynamic” i.e., changing “Open Trail” Status Up or Down,
and/or there may be specific Ski Patrol Hand Posted Signage or Advisories
regarding either Difficulty Ratings and/or Natural Hazards.

We recommend you check with Mountain Info? Crews if you have any
Mountain Guest Questions Today.

Yesterday’s Conditions were very demanding Technical Skiing due to the solidity
of the Base. Without Sharp Edges you would have felt almost everything was
slick or Icy.

We expect Today to be considerably better in that regard, but there will still be
a very solid base below what-ever Soft, Loose, Top Layers Mountain Crews can
Groom into the Trails, so cautious exploration and reserved Speed control on
all descents is required to identify zones where Speed can safely be used.

This is applicable to all Skill Levels.

If you look at the Ski Pole Marks and the way the Skis show edge markings on the
surface, you can see there is a very solid base with a loose shallow coverage.
The challenge is “Edge Set”. The normal process of using edges to generate
control inputs of turning, braking, and stopping becomes less effective when there
is less to grip with, so speed needs to be dialled back and edging needs to be gradual
in order to maintain control. All of that is far, far easier when you have the right tools
for the job.

Tuned Gear Is Essential For Control.
Tuned Gear Is Essential For Safety.
Tuned Gear Is Essential For Enjoyment.

When You Have “Control”, you have “Safety”...
and with Safe Control, comes “Enjoyment”.

If It’s Been More Than 10 Days Of Mountain Use Since Your Last Tune-Up,
Go To The Ski Shop in the Chalet Des Voyageurs, adjacent to the Cabriolet
Base, across the Square from the Clock Tower.

Their “Overnight” $35. +tx.etc., is a CRAZY Good Deal!...
and you will literally feel like someone gave you Brand New Skis!

Technically Speaking... Tuning your Skis at The Ski Shop may actually improve
the performance of your Skis beyond what they were Brand New.

Many “Mass Produced”, assembly line built, Consumer Grade Skis/Boards
come produced with bases and/or edges that are not quite true to Ideal
tolerances of “Squareness” or “Flatness”, so having them Tuned on the Ski Shop’s
Wintersteiger Discovery II CNC Style Automated Machine can render your
Skis or board to more accurate dimensions than they were originally made with.

Weather Notes:

Mother Nature Blew the Forecasters Away with -28C overnight, 6C cooler
than expected, so it’s a”Bundle Up” morning for sure.

At least it’s Sunny, and the winds are supposed to be light, so by the time
it reaches -14C or so after lunch, it will feel a lot warmer.

Dress Appropriately and you’ll be fine.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
