We Stand By Our Simplistic Summary Below Which Says...

"The Pitches Are Prone to Icy Bits...

The Rest Can Be Near-Close to Very Fine, Groomed, Carving Performance.

Hors Piste, Sous Bois, Glades, Un-Groomed... a La Carte, with Many Expert Skill Rated,
Unspecified Challenges.”

One asset for overall, Day-long, conditions consistency, was Low Traffic.
The Summit was busy looking, however there were no apparent Lift Lines
that we saw beyond about a minute, and 90%, it was Ski Right On.

Out on the Slopes, there were entire runs that you might see only
a handful of other Skiers/Boarders, and where safe, Speed was no
problem, what-so-ever.

The Smoothness Of The Groomed Trail Array Is Impressive, regardless of the
makeup of the Substrates. “Smooth” is always better when Froze, and not only
is it Smooth, but the square area of the Adequate Shred Depth that supports
good carving edge-set is growing with each passing Grooming Nightshift.

The Weather was Easy, and all winter still. Apparently, that’s going to change
soon as we’re getting a small January Thaw in a day or so(see attached Weather
Graphic Below).

For Tomorrow Mornings Report, we’re taking a look at this Locally Very Popular
Trail Group Below:

We Like the Colours, Especially 2017....

In addition to all the benefits of this Graphic Statistical Year-To-Date Comparison
previously discussed in yesterdays Post, this is...

An Important Repeat due to the Significance this data has to Future/Projected:
"Last Minute, Spontaneous, Spur-Of-The-Moment, Tremblant, Near-Term to
Spring, Ski Holiday Trip Planners”.

Attention Fence Sitters:

With nothing other than Seasonal Average Snowfall From Jan. 15, 2017,
through to Mid-April.... The next 12 weeks may offer Astute “Last Minute”
Ski Travellers multiple opportunities for “Hop On A Plane And Head For Tremblant”,
or... Jam Yer Junk In The Trunk And Road-Trip To Tremblant... for First or Repeat
experience on some Record-Setting Tremblant Alpine Trail Base Stat’s.

If You’re Already Booked, EXCELLENT, You’ve made the right decision, Now...
go to the gym every day ’til you arrive, if you can, and do multi-sets of 75% Max.Capacity,
High Rep, Hip-Sled Leg Presses. It still won’t be quite the same, but at least you might
wake up your quads so they won’t have as many tendencies to cramp up with the sudden
onset of vigorous, high energy Skiing/Boarding.

Time To Jump Into Action At Tremblant!

When you get here, you’re going to want to “Hit The Ground Running”, and
you don’t want to waist even a moment in “Getting Up To Speed", so-to-speak.
.

If You Belong to a “Gym” and you don’t have a local Ski Area
to train at before your Ski Holiday at Tremblant:

How To Use A Hip Sled or Standing Bar-Bell Squat/Leg Press Machine
For Proper Ski Holiday Leg Muscle Preparations.

Do at least 3 Progressively increased weight sets with alternating(in this specific
order) Wide, Narrow and Medium Width Foot Stances on the Platform to help build
fuller spectrum muscle activation and because “Wide” offers the most Mucular/Skeletal
Stability for balance in Warm-Up and “Medium” seems to be the one where you can
Optimize Power and Endurance, for the Most Beneficial and Heavy Final Set. As well
as the Full Spectrum Muscle Activation the middle “Narrow” set provides, it also
allows great sensitivity within the Isometric-like, lowest range of the Pressing motion
if there is a momentary pause at the low mark of the Downstroke. In Skiing, this would
be the rough equivalent of holding a “Tuck” Position, OR... as illustrated above, a
good athletic stance for navigating tight Parallel Turn radii over un-even contour with
use of legs as Shock Absorbers(“Dampers” for all our Brit Couzinz).

For Regular Tremblant Pass-Holder Skiers and other "Frequent Fliers" who live
within a Short Commute... This Group Should Be Feeling the Horsepower now,
after almost 2 Months of Training.

The most critical thing is the interface between the Skiers Personal Energy and Skills,
and the Connection that transmits any or all of those Skills and Energy into Trail
Surface Descents... Your Edges...

---------- Temporary Weather Created Conditions Caveat ---------------

In an Immediate Sense... Your Edges Are Absolutely Critical.
This is Equally Applicable To Everyone On The Mountain.

Any Skis, from Beginner to The Very Best Hand Made F.I.S. Level Race Skis, That Are
Out Of Tune, Are Partially Ineffective in this current, Weather-Created Temporary,
but highly variable, and quickly changing Surface Conditions environment. It Is... Dull,
Scraped, Burred, or any other form of “Not Sharp” you can think of, that can lead to
loss of Lateral Grip on unexpected Icy Bits between all the Sweet Spots.

We see a lot of “Bomber’s”, but their ability to Stop or even change direction at some
points are clearly non-existent. Gravity is now in control, not the Skier/Boarder.

We also see a lot of Safe, Controlled, Skillful People, using both Parallel and Carved Ski
Technique who are always capable of quickly, effectively deployed Braking, Turning and
Stopping Control Movements.

It may come as no surprise that the Accident Rate in the “Bomber” Group is higher
as expressed by Percentage and as well, Bomber’s are at All Times In Violation Of The
Ski Patrol Mandated Mountain Code Of Conduct.

Please Discourage Bombers/Bombing, and make every attempt to maintain
Mountain Code Safety As Per Ski Patrol Mountain Use Permissions.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

In a Perhaps Over-Simplistic Summary...

The Pitches Are Prone to Icy Bits...

The Rest Can Be Near-Close to Very Fine, Groomed, Carving Performance.

Hors Piste, Sous Bois, Glades, Un-Groomed... a La Carte, with Many Expert Skill Rated,
Unspecified Challenges.

Despite any Short Term Weather Induced Icy Bits, It’s An Exceptional Base
and the Big majority of the Groomed Terrain is Very Sweet Within All
Skill Levels. There are daily, incremental, grooming improvements.

Bring the Right “Tools” and Enjoy Controlled Fun All Day!

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
