95(*) Open Trails on the Still White, Still Winter, 4 Sectors of #Tremblant.

48 Hours Of Fantastic!

If you’ve been following along, this is the third post with this Specific Trail
Reference since we found it Groomed 48 hours ago, so if it seems like we’re
Obsessed with the Grooming of Versant Nord, North Side, Le Tunnel, well, it may
seem that way, BUT.... Our attention is focused here for a very good reason.
The great abundance of Natural Snow that has facilitated the very rare grooming of
this trail two days ago, is also the responsible factor for relative excellence of ALL
Tremblant Groomed Terrain, and that applies to All Rated Skill Levels from Beginners to
Experts.

...Because it is not Groomed for years at a time(**), the Significance of Le Tunnel’s
Grooming now, as an indicator of Tremblant’s Overall Seasonally Maturing Conditions for
the third week of January, can not be overstated.

It is a “Tell-Tale”, it is an Ultimate “Canary In The Coal Mine”, one of the “Best Signs”,
or... any other comparative analogy that describes one single thing that on it’s own,
might be considered one single small increment, but in the rising totality of seasonal
development, it represents the pinnacle of that development that can only be
reached with an exceptional amount of Natural Snow.

It Is The Best Possible Sign... that if you’re a Tremblant Trip Planner, you can
look forward to some truly extraordinary Tremblant Conditions.

It is the Best Possible Sign...that if you’re a Regional Tremblant Fan, every day
you can make it out will have the optimal Trail Prep. that can only be achieved with
this much Snow.

Scrolling through, using the “Previous Topic” Button, Upper Screen Right, you will
become aware we have been writing for WEEKS about the beneficial Micro Snowfall
patterns that have repeatedly dumped Snow in this Sector, in excess of the statistical
Mountain totals. Snow sufficient for the Grooming of Le Tunnel is all the Proof you need.

Notwithstanding The Indescribable Beauty Of The Scenery...

None of these “Overall” Implications for Tremblant acknowledge the absolute
beauty of Le Tunnel as a Pure Fall Line Descent that when Groomed, completely
changes your frame of reference for a Trail that is normally a thigh burning
Mogul Field that will turn your Quads into Jello, and maybe, eat your old knees
for breakfast. Now, when groomed, so easy we’d take a confident Intermediate
on, with no hesitation at all. It is truly a remarkable transformation.

Only Mother Nature can, over time, use her forces of water, wind and temperature
to shape Granite Topography to flow down like a river, and Grooming this Trail allows
Tremblant Guests to see firsthand how her efforts have worked over billions of years
to fashion her Pre-Cambrian Masterpiece.

And... The Scenery Is Magnificent. Artists have been trying to capture these
Iconic Laurentienne Mountain Scene’s For Several Hundred Years, but YOU can
actually go there and let Mother Nature Show you herself.

The Problem Is...

Word-Based Descriptions fail to convey the technical merit of these current
descent surfaces effectively, largely because the words or phrases Humans use
are over-used and they begin to seem boringly repetitive. When that’s a common
case, then the positive value of Physical Benchmarks of Attainment are proportionally
Increased in Direct Relation to the In-Frequency of their Occurrence, i.e.,
if something good happens once every 5 to 10 years, it’s way more noteworthy or
meaningful than if it happens every week. That’s why Le Tunnel, Groomed now
for the first time in Years(?), is so very, very important to understanding the Overall
Excellence of the current Tremblant Winter, Alpine, Snow Sports Trail Network
For All Skill Levels.

Weather Notes:

Sud, South, Resort Base temps at -1C with “Freezing Fog”???

Yellow Lens Utility Advisory.

Small, Sleet-like freezing particles suspended in the air can
act as an accumulating layer on Goggle Lens, so vision may be
a limiting factor, but there is no reason to think it will have
any impact on surfaces. It may actually help Edge Set performance
as part of soft, grippy, top layers.

(**) We did a really quick scan back over portions of Years in the Archived Records
Herein, and could not find any “Groomed” Icons for Le Tunnel. That is not to say it
hasn’t been done before and there are Tremblant Fans we’ve spoken to who
think it has. We think it has too, but we only have faint memories of once,
that we think was in a winter back around ’08, when we had one winter
over 600Cm’s Season Total. In Point-of-Fact... Le Tunnel is not showing
any Groomed Icons now, or in the last week, within Archived, Official data,
so for some reason it’s “Under the Radar”, unless like ourselves, you just
happen to go by there every day on “Rounds”.

How To Get To Le Tunnel:

Easiest Way:
From the Duncan Quad Summit, descend on Trail #67, Lowell Thomas.
La Tunnel is the Second Right Off-Turn, BELOW the main Pitch, as indicated
on your Official Trail Map.

Below is a 1.19.17 Photo Showing Le Tunnel Signpost @ Lowell Thomas Trail,
with Lowell Thomas Triple Chair-lift in Background. It Is A Wide Angle Pic., so
Features are actually closer in life, but you can clearly see the Quick Right Exit
for Le Tunnel. CAUTION: If you’ve never been before, use slower Descent
Speed, or you can pass by it so quick you may miss it.

More On Accessing Le Tunnel:

Please Note(see pic. Below): Le Tunnel has a very short rise from the Lowell T. level
to its own top crest Peak, that is about 15 Skate Steps on Skis. Boarders will need
to take a foot out, and/or Board off. If You Know Exactly Where to go, and...
it’s safe to use a bit of Speed on your final approach, let a bit of speed
build up on Lowell T, and make a wide(from Lowell-Left Side), fast turn
onto Le Tunnel and your momentum may be able to carry you up to the peak.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
