95(*) Open Trails On The “Breezy” 4 Sectors Of #Tremblant.

Two Major Theme’s Today.
1) Basically, with only a handful of Sunny days....
It’s been Snowing at Tremblant for well over 2 Months,
since before Opening Day, Nov.24/16.
The resulting accumulations lead us to the second major theme...

There is no doubt that in recent years, the First day of each new Season Expo Opens
Groomed... It opens with better Quality on that day 1, than we might have had any day
of the whole season, back in the 20th Century.
Today’s Technology has advanced that much.
In Addition To That... repeated “Winch Grooming's” of Expo, generates a very even
pitch rate over it’s upper steep portion. What we saw take place on Jan.19th, was
a “Lateral Levelling”, that is to say, the Grooming process had a greater “Excavation”
element that it does not always have, that saw the Groomed edge closest to the
Expo Quad, scooped out along the entire Pitch descent by between 30 to 45cm’s,
a foot to 18 inches, that left a more definitive ridge there.
Normally, the Groomed Trail edge there is a roughly triangular peak and the base level
between the Groomed and Un-Groomed(running under the Expo Quad), is close to the
same. In this instance, there was a more vertical trail edge on the Groomed Side and
the Snow scooped out by that process ended up spread out across the Groomed side
resulting in a superb, carve-able surface that seemed more “Level” across the Trail.
We did a Left Side Descending run on Expo that day and while the pitch is beyond
our Safe, Carving Muscle Capacity for any more than 2 or 3 consecutive turns, it
was super easy to do dozens of linked Parallel Style turns, all the way down, inside/on
the Groomed Left Side without any icy bits or loss of traction at all. For us... that makes
Expo “Easy”, and we definitely call that a refinement in User Friendly utility.
Naturally, we were having such a good run that stopping to take a Close-up
never occurred to us, so...
All we have are the above and this one below to show the Lift-side descent edge
we’re talking about as it appeared on Jan.19th.

This one above is a way-long Telephoto off the Duncan Quad, just above the
Duncan Base Level, final pitch, and other than it’s a crop out of a Too-long
telephoto from a bouncy moving Chair-lift, it actually pretty well shows
the Grooming we describe above with the somewhat “Levelled Across” portion
running adjacent to the Expo Quad.
Expo does have a slight off-camber inclination towards the Cossak side(screen left),
but you don’t really notice it on the Trail, so evening it out the way they have just makes
it better than it’s normal “Great” to begin with. Also in this case, it eliminated
a lot of pre-existing Icy bits too. Once again, meaningful “refinements”.
You may see this type of Trail Mod. in other Sectors and Trails when ever there’s
a ton of snow like Tremblant has now. We have come to perceive these types of
Grooming Refinements as the wonderfully normal “Optimization” of Snow Surface
Resources that goes on constantly by Tremblant Mountain Crews who, by the way,
are rated Number One In the Fall 2016, “SKI” Magazine, Reader Survey, for Grooming,
in Canada East.
