Cool, Quick and Quiet!

Cool...
O.K., welcome back to Winter! With a return to the cool temps. that we
associate with genuine “Winter”, we need to refocus on some basic
garment utilities. Overlaps around Wrists and Neck are critical. Seal ‘em up.
Make sure those Vent Zippers are done up. After the warmer days of
the immediate past, those Vent Zip’s that we forgot were Open, are now a
stark reminder to Zip-Up. That only took about 10 seconds of super-cool air
across the Back to generate an urgent Zip-up stop. Problem solved. If you
were here, you’d know the wind was a component of the “Cool” too.
Quick....
Cold Shocked Overnight Snow is Super Dry and Super Fast. Zipping around
is no problem, you’ll recognize that aspect of the performance as “Glide”
on the less steep inclines, where a little bit of speed built up on any Trail
Run-out, gets you all the way across any plateau. On the Steeper Stuff...
not only are you going fast , powered by “Gravity”, but if you’ve got “Edges”,
we estimate the Carving force, i.e., “Lateral Acceleration” or even “Centrifugal
Force” you can make on Skis, would be the equivalent of a Race Car cornering
at very high speed on a very tight curve. This is Snow that likes a bit of speed
and if you have tuned edges, it rewards you with exceptional handling.
Quiet....
Look at the above photo again... No Crowds... It’s Quiet(relatively) on the Slopes
and there are many Trails where you may be the only person on the trail for minutes
at a time. When there’s a low traffic density, it’s a safe time to dial up the Speed
a bit so in this case, “Quiet” also means enjoying some unrestricted freedom.
What a Great Day! A bit “Wintery” in the Temp/Wind department, but when the
Skiing is this good, the Joy takes over and “Cool” turns into "Really Cool" Fun!

The Tremblant Park Tech’s Are Artists!
From Opening Day In November To Now...
There has been an extraordinary amount of highly finished
Park modules since day 1, and that continues on. Every
single day Park modules are meticulously sculpted by this
talented Crew.

96(*) Open Trails on the Super Snowy 4 Sectors of #Tremblant.
Within the daily fingerprint of individual Weather and Traffic factors,
Tremblant remains at an overall "Seasons Best” Groomed Quality
and Quantity for All Skill Level Rated Terrain.(**)
2.1.17.Summit.La.Crete.Views.Johannsen.Peak.c.jpg
(**)"Seasons Best” Groomed Terrain references allow for Smoothness, Performance
and Consistency over entire Descent Paths Within Specific Green(Beginner),
Blue(Intermediate), and Black(Expert) Rated Trails and should not be construed
or interpreted to mean or indicate that those of Lesser Skills can effectively
utilize Terrain that is Rated above their actual Skill Level.
2.1.17.Nord.North.Lowell.Thomas.Proof.Of.Snow.White.Beautiful.Groomed.Conditions.c.jpg
(**)Expert Terrain Requires Expert Skills and those without Expert Skills may perceive
difficulties in Expert Terrain they consider to be “Hazards”. The reason we say this
is because there is a lot of Fresh New Snowfall that still has uncompressed softness
in the top layers that can generate Tracked or Mogul’d conditions with use over time.
As overnight Grooming Cycles continue, the packing compression improves surface
density and all-day smoothness becomes more durable.
Bottom Line on this point...
“For Best Results”... Stick with your realistic Skill Level... or... get Ski/Board Instruction
for learning how to Safely Advance your Ski/Board Skills on more difficult Terrain.
Otherwise...
What we’re finding is that there may be small, transient wind/traffic wear points
that can be slick or reveal Icy substrates on some of the steeper pitches within
the Groomed, Black, Expert Terrain. The group of regular Tremblant Skiers we know
are reporting these small glitches in different places from day-to-day, so it is unfair
to generalize about any specific trail when it will all be different tomorrow, or even
this afternoon. Suffice to say that if you find any kind of a pattern, then proactively
adjusting speed or turning radius when entering into similar terrain is always the best
way to optimize safety.
Using our “Proprietary” Trail Quality Computational Algorithms, we’ve determined...
98.7% of the Green(Beginner) and Blue(Intermediate) Groomed Terrain Is Flawless,
or close to it.
Flying Mile At Biere-en-Bas/Johannsen Intersection:
--------------- Conditions Caveat -----------------
In the Un-Groomed, Hors Piste, Sous Bois, Glades, the feedback is that
it is very, very good, taking into consideration the tremendous accumulation
of natural snow. There are Natural Hazards that always exist in Un-Groomed
Hors Piste. Those hazards may be obvious, or they may be covered by fresh
snowfall camo and not be visible from an up-hill descent POV. Caution is
recommended in all Un-Groomed Terrain. Potential contact with hazards
is directly proportional to speed controlled navigational avoidance.
Please Note: Our Vintage, Hand-Made, Austrian “Atomic" Slalom Race Skis(pictured
above), are not designed for Bushwhacking, consequently we do not venture too far
into the “Unknown”. We do however, have very close contact and communication on
practically a daily basis with Tremblant Fan Friends who attend almost daily, for ONLY
the Un-Groomed, Hors Piste Skiing. They are Experts with Decades of Tremblant
experience with appropriate "Bush Skis”, and we consider their feedback as
clinically accurate and reliable.

Hello Greetings To Puerto Rico Tremblant Fans! We are no longer surprised
to meet dedicated Tremblant Fans From Puerto Rico because we meet so many!
What’s amazing is that it is pure co-incidence to randomly bump into them
so often, as we did yesterday. This leads us to conclude that if our random encounters
are “X”, then the numbers we don’t meet are probably “X” x 10, 50, 100...???
One of the most important commonalities we find from talking to them is that there
are many Puerto Ricans who have a keen desire to experience Winter and Skiing.
Congratulations!!! You Made The Right Choice! Tremblant is an Excellent spot for both
Winter and Learning to Ski!
