T360 Early Apres Ski Edit @ 8:30 P.M.

The View Over Tremblant Is Snow, More Snow, and then... A Lot More Snow!

(Please Note: Low Contrast, Flat Grey Ambient Daylight Photography Notice.
These Grey, Flat Light Days... are a major Pic. Challenge but we’re happy
to have the problem because like today... they’ve virtually all had SNOW!)

There was a periodic amount of brightness and semi-Blue Sky, but mostly
it was Grey with a fine particulate Snowfall. What you see above is all that
we experienced today.

A few short days ago, this portion of Expo pictured above was the Course for the
NorAm Snowboard Cross Competition. All the Snow that was in the Jump Contours
is now groomed into the base. We think there might be enough snow under this run
to go ‘till May!

Below:
Up on top of the Expo Quad Sector there’s more of Tremblant’s outstanding
Grooming efforts. It’s No Secret... We love Sissy Schuss! It’s beautiful flowing
topography comes alive with a bit of speed and matched with a great, steady,
fall line slope, this is one of Tremblant’s finest learning/practice environments
for All Skill Levels.

Over on the Sud, South, Soleil Sector, We’ve been so impressed with Algonquin’s
immaculate Grooming over the past week, we just had to go back today for an
inspection and we were not disappointed. Algonquin remains one of the smoothest,
most User-Friendly, Trails at Tremblant.

Regarding The Incoming Winter Storm System as outlined in the copies
we’ve Archived in the Orig. Post below, of the Official Environment Canada
Special Weather Statement:

Today’s snow is not as much as the last batch, but the day is not over yet and the
Big System covered by the Environment Canada Special Weather Statement attached
below, has yet to fully develop.

The way we understand it, there is a line somewhere above Montreal and
below Tremblant where South of the line it will be freezing rain and above
line it will be Snow. Secondly, this Weather system is a two-part precipitation
model with a "Sunny Bit” in the middle for Tuesday, the a return to Snow
or freezing rain overnight to Wed. Morning.

The only odd thing to us is that Freezing rain is a possibility forecast in the second
part over Tuesday night, but at a forecasted -9C? We don’t think we’ve ever seen
a Freezing Rain forecast at -9C, so we think it has a high probability of being snow,
especially at cooler Mountain elevations.

Anecdotally Speaking... and certainly not scientifically verified at all...
When we’ve had Zero C or near in Weather Forecasts this season, we
recall that reality has more often than not, been Lower than forecast.
It may only be by a single degree, but if that single degree is the difference
between Zero and -1C, then -1C has been enough to keep all the Snow as Snow.

In terms of specific, significant components of Tremblant’s current Excellence....

This is real... This is Tremblant now.

This is an approximately 140cm’s Unbroken, Powder Snow, Hors Piste, Drift Line.

(160cm’s Atomic(2010 Vintage) Race SL-D2 serve as a crude, and moderately
effective depth gauge due to the “Rear Facing Ski Brake” which is preventing
the Skis from being pushed in further. The Ski Poles are 122cm’s/48 inch.)

As an average Skier/Boarder, you may never actually get into these Hors Piste
conditions because the skills required are not yet in your repertoire, however,
the fact that these conditions exist at all still benefits you because all this snow
has been close to flawlessly Groomed into the Trail, that is literally in this case,
5 metres adjacent.

Conditions Notes:

Anytime the overnight low gets to around -20C, as it did last night,
there’s usually a Cryogenic, Cold Shock benefit in reduced Ambient
Snow Humidity. Essentially, the snow gets Freeze-Dried, but the “cool”
part is that Mother nature can Cold-Treat the entire Mountain in about
4 to 6 hours and there is also usually a perceptible degree of enhanced
Low Friction, but still High Traction, in the following days Groomed conditions.

There were some Wind and Traffic wear induced Icy Bits in the usual places,
just below crests on the steeper pitches. The McCulloch Summit Entrance Pitch,
right beside the Grand manitou Lodge, was a Classic Sample.
The few we traversed were short and mostly in Entrance Sectors, so we really
don’t consider them to be part of what we’d call the Main Descent/Skiable Trail.
It’s a recognizable pattern, so small adjustments to ensure 100% control coming
into similar situations gets you through them quickly and without drama.
Sharp edges are a distinct mechanical advantage.

White-Out, Driving Snow-squall Vision, Was An Issue On The Sud, South Side
but all the Snow was filling in rapidly to the point that Lower McCulloch was getting
quite thick with accumulation. Skiing was Fresh Powder Fine, but it certainly was
a good workout!

Continued Extraordinary Grooming in Rare Areas like “Le Tunnel"!
When runs that rarely ever get Groomed... so rarely that none
of the Locals can remember exactly what season, or maybe
even only a handful of times in total history since this Nord,
North Side of the Mountain was opened in 1948... it’s a
very good sign that there is an unusual abundance of natural
snow.

Primarily addressing Regional Tremblant Fans that live within a 4 to 6 hour drive
that might normally only visit once a season...

If you’ve already been here, we think the continuously escalating excellence
of Tremblant Conditions is a legitimate reason to get back if you can.
