T360 Middle of the Night Shift Apres Ski @ 3:25 A.M. EST.

From A Very Special Mountain Of Excellent Technical Merit
That Can Produce The 2017 FIS World Cup, Super G, World Champion...

Tremblant Resort Hosts An Erik Guay World
Cup Championship Victory Homecoming!

Winner, 2017, FIS World Cup, Super-G, World Champion, Erik Guay attended
a Homecoming Celebration at the Tremblant Resort Place Saint Bernard at
3:30 P.M.. There was a large crowd of very enthusiastic Fans on hand and
from the first seconds he appeared on stage, there was a swarm of cameras,
reporters and Officials from Alpine Canada, The City of Tremblant, and Sponsors.

Throughout the brief addresses of the various Officials, Erik received many
rounds of applause from the crowd, after which he gave remarks of gratitude
and appreciation.

The sense of genuine respect and admiration from his Fans was just as obvious
as Erik’s naturally gracious and sincere thanks for all the support he’s received in
reaching this defining moment in his World Cup Ski Racing career.

There was a long Autograph session afterwards and Erik showed great care in
individually focusing on the kids in the various Jr. Ski Racing Teams that lined
up to have their moments with a local Hero and New World Cup Gold Medal Winner.

The big Take-Away for all prospective Tremblant Guests is that Tremblant is
a Global Standard of Technical Alpine Snow Sports Terrain Excellence. This is
a Mountain that can produce World Cup Champions and it can make you the
Champion of your own personal Skiing accomplishments. From “Never-Ever”
Beginners, right on up to World Cup Levels, Tremblant’s outstanding slopes
can bring out the best in your potential.

In the Mean-time, the temps got up to +6C, so there was a definite softening
but only in very top surfaces, so it was a “Shred This” kind of day, maybe what
some would consider to be the very first day of “Spring Skiing” conditions for 2017.

It’s currently indicating +1C at the Summit, so we can expect more “Spring”
in tomorrows surfaces, however, due to the preceding two months of Frost
still completely intact underneath, the softening should not get too far below
the very top layers.

Cosmetically, we will probably see a loss of the Snow in the Trees, but that will
not affect surfaces that have the benefit of stored frost as refrigeration from below.

More in morning...

As A Justification For Choosing Tremblant As The Most Worthy Option
For Your Ski/Board Holiday Destination, Frequent Readers here will know
we periodically say...

”World Cup Champions Train At Tremblant.”

Never more true than today as the Tremblant Community has been invited
to gather today at the Resort Mountain Base, Place Saint-Bernard at 3:30 P.M.
to Celebrate Native Son, Erik guay’s recent World Cup Super-G Championship.

We thought that would be an Excellent Excuse to do an “Erik Guay”, Tremblant
Versant Sud, South Side, Trail #12, Case Study, so we start with the above,
from 2.17.17(yesterday).

“Erik Guay”(along with all of Tremblant), has currently been enjoying what we refer
to as “Pure Winter” Conditions. We define those as conditions as Snow Surfaces
resulting from any multiple of consecutive, sustained, 24Hr. Sub-Zero, Ambient
Outdoor Temps., where Mountain Operations Grooming Crews efforts are all applied
to Refinement and do not have to recover any Icy bits from Thermally induced
“Plus C” exposures.

Based on the forecast today will probably see this great run of “Pure Winter”
come to an end with a mild, but definite shot of Sunny, Warm, “Spring”.

Below: Switching to a 180’ POV, and Looking Down over the Upper Pitch
of Erik Guay. This Trail Gets Groomed Regularly, However, it is also extremely
popular, so it will show Mogul formations that are directly proportional to
traffic volume and the number of days between subsequent Grooming Cycles.

The Primary Benefit Of "Pure Winter Conditions” Can be seen below in the
complete absence of icy bits in the Centre Line of User Generated Moguls.

Here below is an Action Close-Up of Skier/Mogul Interface from
the same location on the upper pitch.

2.17.17.Erik.Guay.Mogul.Composition.Soft.Snow.Shred.Characteristics.c.jpg (663.69 KiB) Viewed 2247 times

As you can see, the Mogul is genuinely soft enough for the momentum
of the Skier to traverse through it and it’s obvious there is not much
resistance as the Snow Flies very easily as it is displaced.

Erik Guay has an elongated “S” shape, and this shot is looking
back up from the first descending curve in the S.

Swinging the Camera Around 180... we can now see the bottom of the
“S” shape of this Trail and at the far visible end, its intersection with
the runout from Zig-Zag and Vertige on the way to the TGV Quad Base.

We are inspired by the Erik Guay Story because it represents the
benefits of dedication and perseverance on a personal level that
can serve as motivation for all Skiers. At 35 Years of age, Erik is
the oldest person to win a World Cup Championship, EVER, so we
think the real lesson is...

Above Average Age is no restriction for Above Average Performance,

...and we can all thank the great sport of Alpine Skiing for helping to keep
us all Fit For Life!
