An Interesting day of generally good, but truly mixed conditions
that we might describe as:

Dynamic Tipping Point, Shifting Balances:

Where:
Ambient Air Temps were +/- Zero C ...
The wind velocity varied greatly over time ...
and finally, the Thermal Solar Energy of the Sun.

Those three factors combined to create shifting
zones of “Firm”, “Icy”, “Spring" and “Sweet”
that were changing as the day progressed.

There were some on the Mountain who said it was easier
in the morning because it was slightly softer, but almost everyone
agreed that there was a lot of “Different” as time past over the
course of Open Hours.

There were places where you’d figure it was going to be Soft and it was Froze,
there were places where you’d figure it was going to be Froze, and it was Soft...

But where it was Soft, it was really Soft...

Johannsen probably gets the Super-Soft Snow Award for the day.

If the Weather Forecast is correct, we may see similar conditions
for Tuesday 2.28.17, but with temp’s up to +5C, the Softness
will probably start earlier and cover a wider domain.

75(*) Open Trails on the Refined Slopes of #Tremblant.

Weather Drama at Ground Level always seems to generate apprehension
about Trail Conditions that is totally wrong. Here’s all the proof you need.

If you had listened to all the Blah, Blah, Blah, mis-informed talk yesterday,
you might have never gone out the door, and for sure, the weather created
a lot of the icy bits that any 18 hour Temp drop from +9c to -9C would create,
BUT...

When you have all the resources of Tremblant’s Mountain Operations
Group, those Icy bits can start to be rendered as soon as the Treads
Hit The Slopes, and that’s exactly why concerns should not be any
justification for hesitation about attendance.

We categorically state that regardless of Weather Factors, if the Mountain
is Open, there will be sweet spots of Fine Ski/Board surfaces, and the
Top-Of-Page shot of P’tit Bonheur is only one example of the proof that
could be found for that statement yesterday.

As An Extension of That Principle...
This is particularly true this morning because the scope of area that has
been Groomed last night is going to vastly expand the total amount of
"User Friendly" for today. As the temps have held a steady Sub-Zero since
yesterday, Crews can increase the range of their efforts beyond what
was rejuvenated initially because those surfaces are stable and they
can move on. This is the usual process of daily refinement that repeats
after Temps settle from any “Thermal” event.

In the past we have referred to the speed of the restoration process as
“The Quickness Of Quality”. Weather Drama can happen on any Vacation,
we can all except that.. where Tremblant excels is the speed with which
they can normalize any effects.

Weather Notes:

Currently Sunny, -1C, windy, and temps forecast to rise to +1C at Sud,
South Resort Base, so there may be some Solar Softening, so the South
and Soleil sector Open Trails could have an advantage as a result.

It’s The End Of February...

“Spring” Weather Factors will play a part in evolving conditions
but more importantly, the resources and talent of the Tremblant
Mountain Operations Group have the ability to Optimize Ski/Board
Trail surfaces for every single morning.

The Base is still in exceptionally fine shape over a Ton of Groomed-in
Snow and there’s still a lot more Winter to come, so the bottom line
has to be all about appreciating the great natural Snow accumulation
of this season that has endured with ongoing Wall-to-Wall White
Winter Coverage.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
