T360 Late Eve. Apres Ski Update @ 11:00P.M. :

The Weather Forecast @ 2:00 P.M was “Incorrect”...
even though it was only less than a 5 hour advance.

All the Precipitation showing on the Radar Tracking below,
somehow mysteriously “Vaporized” along with a wind shift,
so all we can say is it’s not raining and the temp at the Sud,
South Resort Base is at +1C, the Snow is now forecast to start
falling at 1:00 A.M. with the temps getting down to -7C by sunrise.

We have no idea how it’s going to end up. We’re all used to the
Long Term Forecast being “Incorrect” at times, but when 5 hours
can’t be accurately anticipated, its time to say... Only Time Will Tell!

One things for sure... at 18 hours after +9C, -7C is likely going to
produce some “icy” in surfaces, so we’re hoping the Grooming
Night Shift does most of their work after the Mountain goes Sub-Zero.
That would hopefully leave us with some loose, granular, top layers
of Flat and Smooth.

Only Time Will Tell!

T360 Apres Ski @ 2:30 P.M. ???? Very Early Mountain Closure @2:10P.M.,
Due To Multiple, Multiple Lightning and Thunder Incidents.

No doubt, it’s been, and going to continue to be, a very rainy day at #Tremblant,
up to at least about 7:00 P.M. when it is forecast to start Snowing.

Most unusual to have frequent day-time Lightning Closures, but Mother Nature
has her say, and when she talks Lightning... you best pay close attention.
Legally, all Ski Resorts are subject to Safety Regulations concerning the
closure interval after the most recent Lightning Strike, so when the Lightning
and Thunder are almost continuous, the Safety Time Interval can not be met
and that is basically what we have today.

In the last 10 years, we have only had(anecdotal recollections, not scientifically
verified), one other similar occurrence that we’ve experienced, so even if we’ve
missed any other, that still makes it rare.

Within our group of dedicated Tremblant Fans there is a great deal of concern about
what the effects of this February Thaw are going to be, but we are not overly worried
because of the exceptionally deep and well compacted base over the Mountains
Alpine Snow Sports Trail Network.

Realistically, there will be some effects, but it’s way too early today to tell what those
effects are, and furthermore, those effects may be mitigated by the Snowfall that’s
supposed to start this evening at 6:56 P.M. or so, and go, off/on, all night.

Below:
Annotated Weather Radar Projections For Initial Snowfall Start
This Evening at 6:56 P.M.

There is Every Good Reason To Expect That When The Mountain
Opens, Clinically Speaking, The Skiing Will Be Fast And Fun.
All you need to do is be prepared as Pic.Described above.

Weather Notes:

Winter Warm Spells Are totally Normal and we get through them all
despite short term inconvenience.

If there’s a Silver lining in this forecast, it’s the possibility of Snowfall
over Saturday Night. Fresh Snowfall after the point of re-freeze could
be a HUGE asset for Sunday.

As A Note Of Historical Weather Detail...
It’s looked like this since mid-aft., yesterday
and other than the occasional Bolt of Lightning...
still pretty much the same this morning.

We should add herein that in terms of weather event
frequency, this type of system is very, very rare.
We think in skiing Tremblant since 1974, maybe
we’ve seen this twice before???

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
