We frequently use Skis/Poles as dimensional references because
photo’s don’t always have scale that viewers can relate to if they
have not been in that location either recently or ever.

In this case, “Le Tunnel”, we’re looking at a Trail that rarely gets Groomed,
so to begin with, the fact that it is groomed speaks volumes about the
amount of Natural Snow that’s in the base. Over the seasons, observations
suggest that Trail Grooming in areas like Le Tunnel that are not supported
by Snowmaking is only possible when the natural snow is at very high levels
of accumulation that will not be eroded or cause hazards to be exposed
when the wide blade and heavy weight of the Grooming Machine pass over.

The Skis are 160cm’s, so for our American Cousins, 5 feet, and 3 inches, and
represent approximately one third to one quarter of the finished Trail width,
so those who are not familiar with it can visualize and relate to what they would
be looking at if they were here in person . This trail is a Black Diamond Expert Rated
descent and normally, as in most previous season’s, it is not groomed and the moguls
that naturally form with Traffic are large and require not only Expert Skills to navigate,
but also require a level of physical endurance that only a well conditioned athlete could
apply.

We have used this Le Tunnel example as a case study for well over a month now
because the Grooming on this trail has completely changed the character of this
trail in terms of the ease of use, and therefore, the vastly expanded range of
Tremblant Guests that can not only use it safely, but can now experience some
of the most beautiful Laurentian Mountain Scenery your eyes will ever see.

The other significance of Showing and focusing on Le Tunnel right now is that even
after a sizeable “February Thaw”, this trail and all of the adjacent sector terrain,
have survived almost completely intact without undue loss of coverage or increase
in hazard exposure, so it is within all Seasonal Historical Contexts, an exceptional
benchmark of just how mature and well developed trails can be with abundant
raw material that allows this degree of refinement to endure. In this way Le Tunnel
is a very important Tell-Tale or Indicator of healthy, general, Sector and Mountain Status.

So Then...

Great Skiing/Boarding,
Great Mid-Winter Base,
Great Trail Grooming Development...

An Artist does not paint a picture with a single colour, and you can’t Ski/Board
all of Tremblant effectively with one technique. An Expert needs a variety of multiple
techniques that best suit the range of conditions, over the span of a day’s fingerprint.
In this McCulloch example above, the Coach/Instructor is demonstrating a “Parallel Turn”
technique to the Student following on the Right-side descent, just beside and
below the TGV Quad. Carving in this location is not practical for the vast majority,
so when you still need to make turns, it’s time to go back to basics with Skidded
Parallel-Style, short radius, swivel turns that make using narrow Trail-edges of
soft snow easy.

The Key Here Is Adaptability.

No one can control the Daily Weather variations, so if conditions call for it,
using any basic Sliding/Riding techniques that get you Safely and Swiftly
down the Mountain with complete descent control in both Speed and Direction
are appropriately useful.

The Joy Here Is Versatility.

No matter what your style of Skiing/Boarding, when you have surfaces like those
pictured above, it’s easy to do all your best moves along any descent line where
the consistency in surface quality can be measured in Kilometres over one run.
When you have literally dozens of Trails where each one can represent Kilometres
of Great Descents, you have the current magic of Tremblant!

The Durability of the Base at Tremblant continues to be
the foundation of Great Skiing and Boarding throughout
challenging recent weather factors.

A return to more Winter-Like temps is exactly what the
Mountain needs to keep the integrity of the base complete,
offset any thermal influence, and to sustain surface area coverage
and the Great Conditions we’ve gotten used to for the balance
of the season.

DEMO DAY!!!

Tremblant360 Strongly Encourages Anyone Who Can...
To attend Demo Day to try the latest Ski/Board design technology.
Many people purchase Skis and Boards without ever trying them
on the snow which is a HUGE flaw in matching skill sets to equipment.
Demo Day allows you to Try Before You Buy, and we have no idea
how a Ski or Board could be purchased otherwise.
The nice Kid at the
Ski section in the “Box-Store Sports Outlet” in the Power Centre of
“Yourtown” who actually Skis or Boards 6 days a year, but has a
“Gold Ski Fitter Certificate” from the “Intensive” two day Retailers Course,
and makes a recommendation based on the “Formula” that your
provided info. generates... Has No Real Idea What Will Work Best For You. Period.
Sure... your “Data” will yield an average “Product” fitment, but is it ideal? Not likely.
If nothing else, Demo Day will illuminate the shortcomings of the “Formula”
approach with the realization that real word testing would 80% OR MORE...
put your skill sets on a Ski or Board that is Not The One You Own Now.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
