Tremblant360 is forecasting today will ultimately be a Fantastic Spring Skiing Day...
But... it might take a wee bit of time this morning to develop that way...

(**)After any rapid Weather evolution, there is some probability that the Open Trails
List will be changing during Open Hours. The best way to find out is to consult
with Tremblant’s fully bilingual, Radio Linked Info.Ski Crews with their up-to-the-minute
Mountain Utility news.

The performance characteristics of surfaces today, including but not limited to,
speed, friction, icy, soft, firm, shred-able, carve-able, or any other qualities
relating to Ski or Snowboard descent experience, are dependant on an almost
infinite number of elemental combinations when Mother Nature decides to float
temperatures at or within a degree to three of Zero C/32 degrees F, in a combination
with a gusty wind component.

Elements such as the wind which may literally have swirls of warm/cool at
speeds of high/low can have effects either way on surface firmness scales
and they are almost completely unpredictable on a Macro basis over the
total Vertical Rise of the Mountain.

Imagine putting Cream in a Clear Glass Mug of Coffee. The Swirl created by
either the initial pour or the first stir creates a visible difference within the mug
that can be seen as areas of high or low concentrations of the Cream. In this
analogy Tremblant and the column of atmosphere over it are the Coffee in the Mug,
and the Cream is any Warm air being injected by Mother Nature. In this case,
Mother Nature is adding the Cream from the Bottom upwards, but hopefully,
you get the point.

At any given initial moment, the Mug may be viewed and or perceived from one
side or the other as Black or Cream, but any instantaneous picture will change
with dynamic of the swirling medium of the liquids as they mix. We think it’s
roughly the same thing with the atmospheric column over Tremblant today.
Air flows like liquid, and over the complex shapes of the Mountains topography,
the mix can vary from not only the swirl generated by those shapes, but also
by convection, where warm air rises and cold air sinks.

As the Projected temps rise beyond the early morning Sub-Zero to the afternoon
+6C, the net effect will be similar to the fully mixed cream into the coffee mug
and everything should end up thoroughly creamy warm.

Clinically speaking, we’d be glad if the Weather Forecast was wrong on any
account of Warm Air or Sunny, at Zero C, these are not elements desirable for
any Alpine Snow Sports Trail Surfaces, but thankfully, there was a bit of Snow
last night(3cm’s) and more Snowfall predicted for tonight, so this “Blip” in warm
factors may not be too much other than a Great Day of Spring Skiing!

Fortunately, the coolness of Mountain elevations should help to reduce
any thermal effects, but at least it’s a short way to the end of this warm
cycle and lowering Temps and more Snow are forecast to be on the way.
