Warmer...
Calmer...
Snowier...
Sunny...
Nice!
Regarding the “Snowier” Part...
Basically, this is the same snow that has arrived between Kansas City
and Newfie over the last several days...
It is a wind-driven, fine, as in small, very dry, almost sand-like crystal
and because of the wind it came on, it has been subject to tremendous
differences in localized accumulations where it could either drift into,
or be moved off of.
The fact is that it has been 24hr. sub-zero for many days now,
so the general level of refinement in the Open Groomed Terrain
is now quite high to begin with. The additional fresh snowfall
is therefore a considerable enhancement, particularly where
the depth has been either at the stat accumulation, or where
drift-in sectors are at greater depths.
There will be Icy bits however, you can not avoid that to
some degree when thee are wind gusts over 60KMPH that
tend to get focused or concentrated by direct facing orientation.
As usual, those areas most prone to slickness or exposed
icy bits are typically at or just over crests and/or on steeper
pitches. As usual as well are the most desirable capabilities of
well tuned edges to seamlessly transit over these questionable
bits.
Weather Notes:
We are currently in a Gap between the last active system
and the next one, an “Alberta Clipper”, moving across the
Continent which is forecast to reach the local region by Saturday.
Conditions Notes:
A Kinder, Gentler, More Even Version Of Yesterday.
Substantial Evolutionary Refinements In Grooming.
Fantastic Fun!!!
Excellent fresh Snow Storm accumulations will favour
Expert "Go-Anywhere" skill-sets.
Beginners and Intermediates should explore carefully with
slow initial speeds over unfamiliar terrain in order to maintain
speed, directional and braking control at all times. Wind shaped
variable snow depths may generate unpredictable friction or
evolving mogul formation in some sectors, so go slow and look
for patterns or zones that keep you safe!

Sorry for delays... big site logistics week for us...
more on the way, asap...
but regarding “On the Way”... that should be you!
Web Cam Apres Ski Observations:
Mountain Crews are ready to start the Night Shift
and its great to see the “Winch Groomers” out in force.
Any of those steeper pitches that can be prone to slickness
or exposed substrates get refreshed with this process and
with multi-day stable sub-zero temps, its far easier to keep
up with.
