40(*) Open Trails On Super Spring Soft #Tremblant Slopes.
It’s April 6th, time is running out...
One way to say it is:
Go Skiing If You Can...
Another way to say it is:
Go Skiing While You Can...
As much as we have had such an excellent run this season
due to the very early and abundant natural snow accumulations,
there is a finite limit to how far that established base can endure
warm air, warm sun, rain, and traffic wear.
As of Thursday, April 6th, 2017, the Tremblant Mountain Alpine
Snow Sports Trail Network is intact with very little in the way of
eroded surfaces or exposed hazards.
That could be a different story over the course of the near-future.
Rain and Warm Winds are currently working over the night time hours
and we do not have any precise way to know what the effects will be
until the morning.
--------------- Mid-Day Update:------------
There was a line that was moving laterally across, and up the Mountain,
on the Sud, South Side, that represented the combined factors that generated
drag/resistance/friction below the line.
Above the line there was a far easier degree of Speed in the surfaces.
One example was Nansen, where there was great natural speed on
the upper portions, almost bordering on slick, or even a bit icy. But...
at the crest adjacent to Tam-Tam, skis hit a profound change in forward
glide, which immediately seemed to go away, and from there down,
it required significant skating action and use of poles to just keep moving
forward.
This is the nature of saturated surfaces and we think it may also
be a sign that the Substrate frost that has been supporting the
surface layers of the snow in the trail base may be starting to thaw
at the lowest levels approaching the Resort.
It’s a better story on the Nord, North Side today, as there was good
Speed, notwithstanding moguls where they exist, right on down to
the Nord, North Side Bases of both the Expo and Duncan Quad’s.
Certainly, none of these warm weather glitches are surprising
for April 6th. If anything, we have been indescribably lucky to have
enjoyed this Summit-To-Base continuity on all sides to this point.
In a way, we’ve gotten so used to the magnificent quality and
coverage that it seemed as though it might never end...
Of Course...Gradually diminishing surface area of Snow Surfaces in
April are inevitable, however today at Tremblant, our biggest asset
is the highly compacted and very dense Trail base which has acted
as a conductor that has facilitated frost transfer into the Mountain
below all the Groomed surfaces. This Cold Reserve is what we are
relying on now.

The Frost Below All The Seasons Groomed Trail
Network is a Very Effective Cold Reserve that
we think is a principle factor in the exceptional
durability of High Quality Skiing today at Tremblant.
